So this is the end of the season, and what have you done?

Rich

Sorry for the cheesy John Lennon pun.

Was just thinking that with the season now over, we're a year on in both our footballing lives, and our everyday lives.

So, over the past year, or more precisely, since the football season started, what have you done?

For me, immediately springing to mind:

Dublin trip with the rice boys from here.
A few other city breaks, including Amsterdam and Prague
Make a couple of life changing (albeit only small) promises to myself, which I've started to do
Split with girlfriend/moved house
One of my best friends has a new baby, the other has a new job in Oxford. Both of these have severely hindered my going to the pub-ability.
Met a new lady, who whilst not 'girlfriend' is becoming more than someone I'm just 'dating'. Too complex to really elaborate, but I'm quite happy with the status quo there!

Overall, my life is really quite different to how it was immediately after the automatic promotion success of 12 months ago, yet some things are still the same.

Am I happier now than I was 12 months ago?

Yes.

Bit philosophical, really, and I'm sure some others have more important things that have gone on in their lives. Just thought the football season, and it's timeframes, give us all chance to recount the things we've enjoyed, not enjoyed, have happened etc over the past 12 months.

Oh, and perhaps more crucially, my jeans have more of a habit of falling down now than they did on May 3rd 2008.

Finally got a house that is habitable! At points between last season and this we were living entirely upstairs without the ability to have a shower :( Only got minor things to sort out now, which predictably I'm ignoring.

Attempted to fulfill my ambition to fly eagles but was thwarted by the weather.

Been a parrot keeper for the day, if finances allowed it I would love to do this as a career.

Met many and wondrous people from the forum who I'd not had the pleasure of their acquaintance before. Some I've yet to meet I've exchanged music with and feel like I know them a little better for the experience.

I bet I'm the only forum member who has a car with gullwing doors!

This time last year I'd just been promoted but moved away from my team at work - I've since been able to engineer a move back to my old team but at the higher grade - woop!

I'd say on balance I'm neither less nor more happy than a year ago.

I raped a clown, got put in jail and now I get to frequent LTLF from the jail's library.

The food could be better, but generally it's not so bad.

That's how it is! I would say my life is at the same level of mediocrity/borderline-underachieving as it was last year :p

In chronological order rather than order of importance:

- Attended my first LTLF meet at Palace and met many fine forum members since
- Given up all day drinking due to my reduced ability to handle the alcohol :(
- Moved to a new team at work
- Moved house (agreed but waiting on bloody solicitors!)
- Found a new passion - clay pigeon shooting

A good season all in all ;D

I retract this statement

(I must show more respect)

-Went to Dublin with team Rice, good times.

-Ive had a little bit of a midlife and gone from a family car to something a bit more adventurous, to my wife's dislike. Hey-ho shit happens.

-I was the orchestrator along with my partner in crime (Chris) on ensuring that LTLF FC were promoted as Champs of Power League. Happy days until some selfish fecker refused to even let me hold the trophy :D :D , You know who you are!!.

-Enjoyed meeting many from this forum.

-My greatest achievement this year/season has been given up smoking, I feel great for it ;D

Oh I gave up smoking too :) And feel similarly good for the experience.

I have such a bad memory for stuff like this and I can't say I've done too much exciting

- Went to Frankfurt/Offenbach to watch Forest in Europe once again!
- Quit my ska band
- Continued work on my family's 'eco house', which is STILL being built as I type
- Joined the LTLF 5 a side team and had about 10 times more red cards in 2 seasons for them, than I have had playing for two other teams, in Leicester, where I've had 1 in 5 or 6 years! :D
- Won four 5 a side leagues ;D
- Learnt a lot about windows
- Installed a PV roof
- Went quad biking in the snow
- Paintballing for the first time
- Booked my first proper beach holiday since I was about 17
- Entered the Robin Hood marathon and thus have started doing a lot of running
- Joined a new metal band

That's about all that is interesting I reckon.

Here's a few main points in no particular order of importance or in fact any order whatsoever!

- Split up with long time girlfriend, but all in all worked out for the best
- Met a lot of new people from new living arrangements at uni, some of these new people have turned out to be some of my closest friends
- Joined LTLF around November 2008 - yet to have a Rice meeting/piss up but aim to change that by next season
- Started playing football again after a long, long lay off with injury, followed by a severe case of "can't really be arsed." Now aiming to join a sunday league side next year and really push on
- Promised myself to drop my golf handicap - failed. From the impressive start last year, I now haven't swung a club in almost 3 months.
- very nearly finished my degree, something which i never thought i'd do as I never really wanted to go to uni and only applied at school because all my friends were
- almost got a full-time job lined up with M&S Money head office in Chester, with a view to progress to their marketing dept within a few months of graduating
- Finally, putting money aside for my first ST for the 09/10 season

Fairly good year for me, unless M&S sack me and my uni grade comes back as a poor one!! But fingers crossed! :)

Spent the season without a season ticket for the first time in a few years, and spent much more enjoyable time with my family as a result.
Made a few more away games than before.
Halfway through the process of updating my house (re-wiring and resulting decoration)
Lost my remaining grandparent.
Played a few times (not as many as I'd have liked) for an accommodating LTLF team, who are kind enough to put up with my inability to kick a ball straight.
Got thrown out of a bar for over celebrating after the Bristol City game.
Had a great time when I went to a game, home or away, thanks to the great supporters of our club.

YOU REDS!

M&S Money is a really good company to be with at the minute.

They've been a huge client of ours for many years.

If I'm not mistaken, they're owned by HSBC in some weird form of 'HSBC take the risks and they split the profits' kind of way. Either way, the people I've dealt with from there have always been fantastic, and all seem pretty happy with their jobs.

So, congratulations are in order, I'd say!

Had a rather memorable night out in Cardiff before the Swansea game.
Gone to University.
Been to Scotland.
Got a girlfriend, been finished by her lol
Rather gash Christmas.
Got a new missus and is planning a summer holiday.
Booked a holiday to prague.
Had a few exams.
Spent over £100 on alcohol on the final day of the season :)

YOU REDS!

You scored a goal with your left foot (are you listening, Nick Doyle?)

Plus, you mark people out of the game.

I think you do yourself a disservice, I really do.

I achieved a solitary man of the match award during my sporadic LTLF FC appearances.

I have been likened to Ian Breckin, and will thus presumably be deemed surplus to requirements next season and end up playing for Jonno's team of misfits.

Rich

I was disappointed that the Breckinbauer punning didn't extend to the City ground!

you'll probably beat our Breckinbauer etc.

Yep, since August they've recruited almost 400 people in all areas, but mostly in the contact centre where I currently work part time. Yeah owned by HSBC which as you say, reduces the risk not only to M&S Money but also our customers.

Who do you work for, Rich? Thanks a lot for the congrats as well :)
