Six Strikers Flaw?

hello, i know we are all exited by King Billy stating his 6 striker dream, and with 5 down and 1 to go(blackstick), its looking more and more a reality.

However, wouldnt that mean starting class players arent even included in the squad?

Even if we do "rotate" players, earnshaw should start every game so that just leaves one spot. And how about if McGoldrick and Earnie hit great form? BD wouldnt drop them if they were scoring, so you have at least4 players not starting.

Even if we DID do 4-3-3, that would mean 3 wouldnt start, and players will become unhappy.

Or is it just me?

It dosn't really matter if they are unhappy at not playing. The point is that we will have 5-6 players to fill one spot. Meaning we always have the two best, in form players. Much rather that than the situation where we have no one fit.

If we've got two players banging them in then I don't care who is unhappy. They will all get a chance at some point through subs, injuries and tactical changes. It's up to them to work hard and take the chance.

Exactly, Clifford. Plus the fact that Dele will be used as an impact sub or if we need him against big, brutish teams.

Also remember that Eddie is at his best playing behind the front 2, so he'll be utilised more in that sort of area. We are finally getting options on the pitch, and the ability to pick the 2 best players every week is great, rather than only having 1 first choice per position, we've now got a couple up top. Now to fill in the rest of the side!

Of course it matters though, otherwise there would be no such thing as man management. You'd just pick which of the 6 robots you fancied that week, and the others would continue to train and be prepared to play at the highest standard possible.

We can have 7 subs now aswell so chance are at least 5 will be in every squad.

Oh have they added that in this year? Cool :)

6 strikers is a good thing. Pele Ebola Virus won't be able to last 90 minutes week in, week out, most strikers tend to have a baron spell at some point in the season, and we can always rely on Tyson to be injured.

Season tickets go on general release on Saturday. We are releasing details of signings every day.

Who might be tomorrow?

I know it's not Blackstock as a special friend of mine told me that whole thing has gone cold.

Strikers are nearly always the best payed players at a club.
We are looking like going with 6 like Warnock did at Sheff utd (it got them promoted)
healthy competition is good strikers like Tyson/Tyson /Garner get plenty of injuries DMG played every game for Southampton last season so hopefully will remain injury free.
7 subs next year cover for all types of striker and an option up BD sleeve of throwing on extra strikers with 10 mins to go.
Should be exciting.
Not a flaw just an insurance policy.

personally i think 5 is plenty , strikers need match sharpness to be at their best and i think 5 is more than adequate to cover injuries etc , however if blackstock was added to the squad i wouldn't be complaining but i think we'll either not go in for him now or he will opt to go elsewhere where he might have less competition for a starting spot , just a thought.

Mmmn.

Tyson = injured for 1/2 season (evidenced by previous 3 years)
Earnshaw = injured for 1/2 season (evidenced in previous years)
McGoldrick = backup striker - used wide or attacking behind front man
Adebola = 'Supersub' or occasional use
Garner = promising
Blackstock = 1st choice.

6 strikers, only 5 of whom you'd expect to be fully fit at any given time, 1 of those used more as an attacking midfielder and the other an ageing 'shock tactic'

I reckon 6 strikers covers all the bases and doesn't leave us short at critical times, when the games come thick and fast we'll need them to have fresh legs.

Blackstock is only 23. That's more than 10 years of potential.

He could win us a World Cup Final.

i have a mate who is a QPR fan. from what he says there has been no major talk of him staying, after him being a fans favourite many where angerd at the fact he said his place was back at nottingham forest, he says on most of their forums they talk of their being a deal already in place because apparently it was part of the loan deal if we wanted to sign him after.

i can see Mcgoldrick being used as a winger in rotation with tyson depending on who is on form. so really its 4 strikers, two of whom possibly on the wing. and with 7 subs you can have two on the pitch two on the bench!

and there is my speculation as to billy wanting 6 strikers.

blackstock announced tommorow please!

Forgive my ignorance, but when do season tickets go on general sale?

Saturday. Enough time for Blackstock, Gunter, Mills/Barker, Camp/other GK and the Sherrif to be announced!

The more the merrier - stops us being embarrassed by having to shove Wes up front (or using Newbold before the lad was ready) - always nice to have a subs bench where the average age is 16. The Sheep game at home showed how thin on the ground we were - no chance of freshening up the 11 picked players.

Yes mate, spot on. Looked on the bench at some of the games last year, and there was just no hope! Nobody to bring on to inspire, drive or bloody score!

Cant help thinking this adebola signing is gonna be a good one. Imagine chasing tyson and earnshaw for 75 minutes and getting absoloutely knackered doing it. Then you have to deal with a beast of a man coming off the bench and giving you shit physically! Or vice versa, having to deal with the big man for 60 mins then getting paced for the last half hour, We just didnt have those options last year.

Or with Garner niggling at you for 60 mins, then sub him before he gets sent off - for Adebola. There are some good vibes here. Just need a huge centre half and Gunter!

It's far better to have 6 strikers. Due to injuries last season throughout, it meant that we were pretty limited to the options available to us. having 6 strikers means that BD can pick a different front line should he need to against teams with a different style.

e'g' Starting with Adebola as a team has two strong defenders in the air or starting with Tyson to use his pace if BD realises the team has a slow back line.

get my point?

I agree with this, horses for courses is the phrase that springs to mind.
