We're 2nd in the league and watching some of the best football Forest have produced for a long while........... whats to be frustrated about there?

i do agree to some extent , bd is always going on about lists being drawn up and conversations taking place etc , it just seems to be such a drawn out saga ,to be honest i'd be happy with the squad we have got if we could steer clear of injuries but this time of year i think we'll be extremely lucky to do that . bd get a couple in pronto please ?

Thats last summer ship mate history, i'm talking about the present which is now! i am sick to death of people using the same old claptrap week in and week out "oh we are second in the league blar blar" i dont care if were 2nd or not the point is we need to strengthen certain areas and hopefully avoid issues that will arise in the shape of injuries, suspensions etc, is it really possible that some of you really can't see that? are you that blinkered? surely not...

Although primarily i do agree with what you say, but we still have to show ambition this is the best chance we have had in 10 seasons to get back to the prem and we should be going all out guns blazing to get there. I'm not trying to sound like i'm down on the club far from it i am really enjoying our season so far which is why i'm a little frustrated with the lack of activity in the transfer and loan market, we quite simply shouldn't be taking chances like this...

Fair enough and I agree with that as well, I'm just pretty sure all those involved in the club feel the same way too and really are doing as much as they can (with the current setup) to get the players in that will help us finish off the season and go up.

Billy D has been saying all along that we aren't really ready to go up and i'm sure he's talking just as much about the behind the scenes setup which will include the way transfers are dealt with and the scouting network and contacts as much as the squad of players at his disposal. The reality is we've done better this season than anyone honestly thought we would and we've not had time to sort all those things out yet.

I heard somewhere that we don't have an international (or even European) scouting network, you can't get away with that in the premiership and even when you're seriously trying to get into the top league (ie where we find ourselves now). I'm sure we'll have at least started making steps towards that now but it's not in place. Sometimes things just aren't ready and you have to accept that, make the best you can with the current setup and work hard at improving the situation going forward. I truly believe the club are doing that.

I'm with you, I expected so much more than being second by now at the start of the season.

We have exceeded expectations and whatever happens, there will be many reasons to look back on this season with fond memories.

However I think it is a fair gripe that Doughty has always promised we would strengthen from a position of strength, this simply has not happened. We have our best chance of promotion in over a decade, so to reduce that chance through not strengthening when our rivals have done is madness!

As far as I'm concerned the club tried to bring in quality additions in January but for whatever reason, it didn't happen. Now they're looking at the loan market for potential quality additions and I'm fine with that. If you'd rather they went out and signed the 1st bloke they clapped eyes on then great but I think that'd be daft. I think over the last few years the club have shown that they know what they're doing when it comes to transfers so I'm happy to trust them.

i'm in agreement with this , i'm absolutely delighted with the season so far but a bit bemused by the seemingly insurmountable task of bringing in a couple of decent additions when all around us have found this mission somewhat easier , i'm not saying the baggies & barcodes have improved their starting line up's a great deal but they have provided themselves with the security in depth should injuries or suspensions start to kick in , this we have not done and possibly we are most at risk due to our squad being one of the smallest in the division .
it will have been a fantastic season whatever happens but it could be one we look back on in years to come (a bit like after the blunts play off defeat with hart and our failure to strengthen after) and think .....if only .

I for one, do not want a return to the bad old days of knee-jerk, ill thought out signings of journeymen footballers just to make the numbers up.

Yeah Newcastle and WBA have signed a few, but I'm not sure that Best, Watson, Tamas et al. would significantly improve our squad.

And IF the rumours are true that we were coming up against vastly over inflated prices for our January targets, then I think we were right not to pay above the odds.

Personally, I think summer signings are much better and whether we go up or not (and I think we will), we will be a very attractive club to play for come the next transfer window.
