My mother in law runs a cancer charity based in Hull. When Palace played there she met Mick Jones who has since arranged for football clubs to donate signed memorabilia.
This is an article from the NEP.
Notts County player and assistant manager Mick Jones has teamed up with a cancer charity to raise money by auctioning off a signed Nottingham Forest and Magpies shirt.
Jones, now Neil Warnock's number two at Crystal Palace, got in touch with Billy Davies and Ian McParland to arrange for a signed shirt to be donated.
And he contacted the Evening Post to give local people the chance to get their hands on the memorabilia.
It is to raise money for HER Breast Friends, a charity which helps women diagnosed with breast cancer.
Jones said: "I've had three family members who have died of cancer and my youngest brother was the hardest to take.
"It got me thinking that I could do more."
