When Preston scored their third (about 32 mins), this was the signal for a synchronised act of throwing all the toys out of the pram by a sizeable number of so-called Forest fans. Not only did they strop their way out of the stand, I hear that several hundred LEFT THE GROUND no doubt STAMPING AND CHUNTERING AS THEY WENT! Well, well. Having a paddy won't help the Reds. The players and management wouldn't even have noticed so it was a futile gesture. Shouting encouragement from the stands WILL help though. We made a great fist of a fight-back at Preston - just think, with the extra encouragement of those 'fans' leaving the ground early, we might just have done it. YOU MIGHT HAVE COST US PROMOTION!

Silly to suggest that any fans leaving early would have cost the team anything. They had more than enough encouragement from us yesterday to get back into the game.

I thought we were excellent yesterday and could leave the ground with our heads held high.

If people choose to leave the game at any time then they are perfectly within their rights to do so.

However, supporting your team to me means doing so through the good and the bad times. When we're playing poorly the encouraging noise from the stands can support and lift the lads and squeeze that little bit more out of their tired legs and failing motivation.

Those who left early missed a great show of strength and determination from our team and two good goals. Had we managed a third then it would have gone down as the greatest fight and comeback of the season.

I wouldn't go as far as to believe it may have cost us promotion though. ;)

They might have.

Personally if we don't go up I'd put it down more to a lack of a left back and cover for McKenna, but there's not much the fans can do about that.

It isn't over yet though.:)

We just went to Boots so Lee could buy his Mum something, and ate sandwiches in the carpark 'til the queues died down :)

If your losing three nil and playing awful what do you expect. People pay money to go to games and they spend more on away games. I'm sure when the third goal went in 90% of people felt like walking out

You didn't go then?

Be quiet.

Fans that left had every right to do so. Forest were a disgrace in the first half, but I think they know that, and tried damn hard to right it in the 2nd.

Sounds to me like you weren't anywhere near Preston. Had you been there, you might well have been there to voice your support.

And if people did leave early, and I didn't notice a massive space opening around me, the noise we made in the 2nd half trying to will the team to an immense comeback showed we didn't really miss them.

I knew i had dropped a boo boo when i saw the coaches going in the opposite direction :( first trip to Preston and lesson learned. :) If i had read a map and not relied on Tom Tom i would of maybe drive to J1 M55, i presume that's the way the coaches went.

Good one, Ossos. Yes I was there, but couldn't know about the mass walk out of the ground 'cos I was watching the game! After I've been to the next two away games which I have tickets for, I'll have been to 15 away games. So please don't jump to conclusions. Maybe I was just trying to poke a stick in the hornets nest; maybe I wasn't. Also, I always voice my support, don't boo and never make pointless gestures. So I won't be quiet; if there is something going on which I don't like, then I'll make the comment.

Fair enough, you were there RRREDUN, but could you not see with your own eyes that the vast majority stayed?

Your comment about those leaving costing the club promotion was ridiculous.

It was supposed to be - I wanted to stir up a bit of debate. I'd planned to make some comment on the way back on the Trickie Tree Travel bus where I travel to the vast majority of the games. While I don't honestly think any mass exodus from the ground could cost us promotion, I really do think it is a pointless and pathetic gesture. I try to get behind the boys regardless. Best wishes.
