My sister gets married at 3:30 pm on Saturday and I'm supposed to be going to Derby to watch us beat the scum! My dilemma is that I'm not sure I'll make it back in time for the wedding. My plan is to leave 10 mins early to get back to Nottingham City Centre for 3:30pm.

What do you think my chances are of getting back for it, seeing as I'm driving? Do you think Derby might let me park in the main car park at the ground if I explain my situation?

You should be fine if you stick to the 10 minutes-to-go plan.

If you get out with 10 minutes to go and are parked in close proximity to the A52 then it will be fine, get the best of both worlds :)

I see your sister is as ignorant to the world of football as my bloody sister is. She booked her wedding (to marry a sheepshagger might i add) for a Saturday afternoon during the football season, thus i missed Palace away this season. The sheer ignorance of it all.

Go to both. :)

If there is trouble before, or the game is very controversial they might not let you out early, be carefull.

I had this exact same problem last year. I went to the City Ground in a suit. Missed the wedding and went to the reception. My sisters a good sport so she didn't mind. My parents and girlfriend wern't very impressed though and we lost so it wasn't even worth it.

Any other game but Derby and I would have gone to the wedding but Forest vs Derby is the biggest game of the season.

go to the game and when you leave dial 999 and report a fire somewhere along your journey from the ground. Hopefully you get behind the fire engine and have an escort to the main road through the traffic.

It's only a game. There will be plenty of time to watch another derby match, so sell the ticket and make your sister proud. Family first, football second this is a lesson you learn as you get older, wiser and have a family yourself (and the responsibilities that go with it).

I got back from Derby last year in about 20 odd minutes we parked at that fireplace shop just off the A52, ran to there from the grouind then floored it. If your not confident though miss the match unfortunatly

Just to assist you a little more, I love Forest, thick and thin, have done since my father first took me to a game in 1967, If any of my sons missed their sisters wedding due to football, I would find it hard to both understand their motives and forgive their actions.

A hard one this.

Supposing 80 minutes in, we're 2-1 down but we're playing really well and Earnie's just come on. Can you honestly say that you'd be able to leave early?

My advice would be to discuss the situation with your sister/brother in law to be. Should they give you their blessing (which I would, if it was me) then if you're a little late it'll still be ok.

You're not Best Man are you? ::)
