Sheffield United Pre Match Pub [this is not the match thread!]

Can anyone recommend a pub that matches these criteria?
1. Less than 15mins to the ground.
2. Parking nearby
3. Serves real ale.
4. Away fan friendly.
Initial research comes up with Sheaf View 25 Gleadless Road S2 3AA
White Lion 615 London Road S2 4HT
Any recommendations from past experience or local knowledge?

Yeh I was about to post this myself, and one where they wouldn't care if only one of us was over 18?

We had a good following of reds in this pub last season before the Sheff Utd game. It's ideal as its close to the city centre / train station. We did get a police escort to the ground though, which prevented any trouble there could have been i suppose. I'm going to this, so may end up drinking here again!

I'm debating going to this ... would probably train it and drink in the howard again if I do attend :)

I'm thinking only Varscity would have issues with under 18's.

You can get an all day breakfast in the Howard for £2 8) and at the moment they've got some good ale :)

Have tickets for this sold out already?

I completely forgot to get some and it doesn't appear there is any left on the new fangled ticketing site.

Crock of shit if it has, I booked the next day off as holiday so I could go out in Sheffield.

Thanks mate. Just tried it again and found some - obviously either the computer or the idiot at the controls wasn't working.

the howard straight off the train was pretty good last year

Miserable git, and proud.
The only problem with The Howard, especially for midweek games at United, is that you end up with a police escort, a few of us will be at the Roebuck, which is just up from the Howard.

Been to Sheff Utd a few times and know it's near to train station. How long does the walk take roughly? My last train is at 22:11. Will I miss it or am I best off driving?

15-20 minutes at the very most. And if you're going back to Nottingham there should be a later train, changing part way through the journey.

Cheers Westyorks. Not off back to Nottm. I live in Hull but as the last train there is at 21:24 I'm gonna have to go back to Grimsby and stay the night at family. Last train back to GY is 22:11 so i should be OK. If I miss that it's a night on the platform and the milk train back to Hull on Wednesday :(

15 minute walk. I would think you'd make it.

As for the original question, I'd recommend the Roebuck aswell. Howard is the away bar but gets crowded and lets in both sets of fans. Also, across from the Roebuck is the Red Lion which is worth a try too.
