Shaun Wright - Phillips

Neil Webb

Youth Team
Am I correct in assuming he never played or scored for us at 1st team level ??

This was taken from the BBC Sport website

If he scores:-

Shaun WRIGHT-PHILLIPS will reach the milestone of 50 club career goals (Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Chelsea).

If on the field from the outset:-

WRIGHT-PHILLIPS will be making his 200th career league start (Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Chelsea).

No he never played. There was talk at the time of him breaking through at being the 1st father and son to play up front together with Ian Wright.

Close - he left us in 98 before Wrighty played for us. The interest was that they might be the first father/son to play against each other - Wrighty for us and SWP for Man City. In the end it didn't happen.

Miserable git, and proud.
The furthest Wright-Phillips got at Forest was playing 5 games and scoring 1 goal in the Midland Melville Youth League and FA Youth Premier League in 1997/98, playing in the same team as K.Dawson, A.Dawson, Reid, Prutton, Williams, Foy, Doig, Edds and Harewood, only to be released at the end of that season for being short!

That's a half decent team there!

We didn't release him, he walked under a door to freedom.

I heard he was released because his dad was interferring too much? That might be wrong though.

Surely it would have made sense to phone Social Services if this was the case.

he was released by us as he was considered too small to ever make it as a pro ....and that my friends is a fact.

It's only a fact if the word fact is written in capital letters. FACT.
