Season ending for McKenna?

Listening to billy just now, he seemed to fear the worst for McKenna and looks like he could be out for rest of the season. This would be a huge blow. Not sure how we'd cope without him to be honest. Who on earth could we get in to replace him?

Let's not panic until we have the results of the scan. It sounds pretty much like knee ligament damage which would probably put him out certainly for the short to medium term.

If the worst case scenario is confirmed then we do need to replace him although finding someone who can fit into his boots is not an easy find.

Sad news which has dampened down the post match celebrations.

This just goes to show that Billy was spot on when he targeted Pratley and vindicates his continued frustration at the lack of January reinforcements.

McKenna is undervalued by a significant number of fans (but thankfully not the majority) and is the type of player who will only be conspicuous by his absence.

Billy's way of getting another midfielder out the transfer committee! Knows he'll be out for a week or two and will chuck the club doctor a few notes to say he's out for longer while bringing in someone else before McKenna is declared fit ha ha....quality!

I like you're thinking, and Mckenna gets to avoid playing in front of the Preston fans, whom he holds dear.

Let's hope the injury isn't too serious; Paul McKenna has been an absolute gem this season; it is possibly true to say we would not be were we are in the table without him.

If the worst happens and we lose him for the rest of the season, then for me, Chris Cohen should get the nod in Centre Midfield.

But of course, that leaves us light at Left Back!

Kind of depends what we can do in the loan market; we've a week before the next match, either we need a Left Back (to free up Chris Cohen) or an experienced Centre Midfielder as cover for the unfortunate Mr. McKenna.

Hopefully Billy will be hitting the phones to sort it out!

not too compare them as players, but wasnt mcgoven the same, only realised what he did for the team when he wasn`t there

Would be disappointing to lose him but he could do with a rest.

He'd probably have been the run away favourite for POTY during the 1st half of the season but post West Brom, he's been pretty poor.

No wonder my post count..
Paul Scholes reportedly stalling for a contract at uni-turd. Get on the phones!

Just checking the OS for any update on McKenna but nothing as yet.

However, interesting to read the following....

Julian Bennett - knee. Is now back in training and played 45 minutes in a friendly in early March.
Brendan Moloney - Will miss the rest of the season - the medial ligament in his left knee has snapped.
Joel Lynch - thigh injury, out for at least a month (from Feb 15)

Well, that answers my 'where is Lynch?' question.

McKenna is an experienced player and hopefully he realised how serious a medial ligament injury potentially can be and he stopped before further and extensive damage.

might the likes of Lee Carsley be available for a loan? (out of favour at Bham)

that is a very wise call!

Perch - best ball winner and tackler at the club. Really should have been brought on instead of McGugan yesterday, looked ideal for him to get stuck into and dominate their midfield, but hey ho.

Mcgugan supplied the corner for the goal. When has Perch ever dominated?
