Sean St Ledger

It's Baggio

John Robertson
In the Sun.

SEAN ST LEDGER is caught up in a tug of war between Midland rivals Leicester and Nottingham Forest.

The defender's cash-strapped club Preston will sell for £2million.

...so we'll offer £400k...

The "tug of war" quote makes it sound like we've had offers accepted and it's just contract negotiations.

Would be a good player for us.

As always, not holding my breath!

He's meant to be a bit of a prat isn't he? Another decent-ish centre half wouldn't be a bad addition though. Also, 2 million? We can't even stump up that for players we want such as Pratley and Whittingham.

2 million for a position we probably least need to strengthen would be a bit of a shout.

I'd say CB is one of the main positions we need to strengthen. Yes we have Chambers and Lynch, but Lynch is **** and Chambo will be spending most of the season covering for Gunter when he's banned.

I'd love us to get him, think he is a great player at this level and chips in with a few goals.

I quite like the idea of this one but what happened when he went to Middlesbrough, he might well be a daft lad and not what is wanted.

I reckon with the way Preston are headed, he'd want to get into a decent team as well.

Paper talk! At least it's a new name to discuss though...

I posted this name two months ago (can't find the thread though - it was before the Forum lay out changed).... Does this mean I am the new Capello, OTT, PVH etc etc bla bla rolled into one?

No way we'd pay £2m, we're not that stupid. Preston aren't well off, hence why they sold their captain to us for £750k. If St.Ledger were to move it'd probably be for around the same sort of fee.

You're probably not far wrong, but I reckon they'd eek a bit more of a fee as he's a potentially a future international and is a bit younger than McKenna.

Echoing what others have said really, would be a decent addition, I do feel we need a quality CB but I'd sooner spend large money on the wing and center mid maybe.

Only problem with all this is, if we're to spend a large sum on him it'll be because Kelvin's off to Celtic for more than we spend on St. Ledger. Question then is - who's better? Will we be getting a better centre-back partnership if that was to happen?

I hope we do bid £1m or less because really he's just the typical lanky dirty Championship centre back who can head and boot the ball away, albeit very well and better than Wes/Wilson do!

Put it this way, if he's worth £2m then Wes is worth £3m and Wilson is £4/5m!

If he can head and boot the ball away better than wes, why do you value wes more highly? It's not as if he's quick or a decent passer of the ball.
