Sean Dyche

For me if Dyche keeps us up then he has done his job - we can think about where we go in the summer.

Pretty much most of the mainstream media and most other fan bases do not have us going down.

I feel we could easily be the ones who go far to many self inflicted wounds from what are meant to be good players. We find ways to draw games we should win and lose games we should draw. The players needs to take a lot of the blame, might be tempting fate but the last 4 EPL games it feels like the players are starting to step up so that is a major positive. MGW seems to get it and if he plays like he did Sunday the rest of the way it would be a great help as he was brilliant.

Most be really frustrating for any coach when you have Luiz giving away a needless penalty at Fulham and Neco doing likewise and getting sent off against Palace those 2 instances alone I feel likely cost us 3 extra points that would mean we would be 9 points clear right now.

With the team we have we should not go down but far better teams have gone down than the one we have.

It must be hard not to tear your hair out (if Dyche had any).

But I'd imagine there would be a similar level of frustration from the players at times playing in a Dyche team, especially talented creative players like Luiz.

Last week is a prime example at Brentford. We got the points which is ultimately what matters but if you're a creative player it can't be great just sitting in defending for about 60 minutes. Especially when we've proven in the first half that we're easily a match for a side like Brentford on an individual basis.

Average a point a game and that should do us - and we're on track for that as it stands.

There's still lots of twists and turns yet to come, but i honestly think that although we need to take care of our own business first, if West Ham revert back to being poor then we might not need as much as we think we need. We just need to keep at it.

Hopefully Bowen gets injured.

Isn’t that how we finished 7th last year, sitting in then hitting teams on the break? Players seemed pretty happy.

Brentford pressed very high and very well in the second half. Our players weren’t very good at beating that press very often. There’s always two teams playing and trying to do their thing. I reckon if Douglas Luiz was playing we’d have lost. Much like Villa did against Brentford even when they had a man advantage.

Not to that extreme level unless we were at the Etihad or Anfield.

I wouldn't exactly call the Awoniyi goal hitting them on the break either. It was a punt up to him to give the defence some respite and by some miracle he turned it into a goal. I wouldn't consider that a particularly sustainable tactic.

Good call - plus the way Brentford play - putting the ball over the top for their forwards to tun into the gaps - caught us out in the 1st half.
To be fair to Dyche, he saw the problem, played a little deeper in the 2nd half so there were no gaps to run into and nulified their attack.
Can someone explain to me what was wrong with that?

The recent one at Brentford? Hardly, it was a pass out from Milenkovic to MGW in midfield who controlled well and played it into space in front of Taiwo.

I think some are expecting too much of Dyche if they think we can go away to teams like Brentford and just dominate a game from start to finish. Every team in the Premier League needs to get points at home and will strive to control the game whilst nullifying the oppositions creative players. Most teams are capable of it (bar Burnley and Wolves this season)

It was a perfect away performance with two great goals and solid displays by our defence. To expect the football we played for 20 minutes to be done for 90 is unrealistic, don't care who the manager is.

I don't think anyone expects that, but a couple of passes would be nice.

The full match replay or highlights are available on Forest TV they will enable you to see how good the second goal was by TA both in its execution and build up and very reminiscent of of a a few goals last year.
Also well worth watching how well we played and dominated Brentford at home( who previously had only lost to Man City) for 25 minutes in the first half.

Supporting our striker might be a good start. In the first half against Palace we had opportunities to break yet failed to commit players forward. Sangaré and Anderson didn't bomb forward, yet the Palace players backtracked quickly and our attacks were snuffed out due to lack of options. We would have won the game had we taken Palace down in the first half, they were there for the taking.

Some of you are happy watching football with the handbrake on. I'm not, we can do better.

Just look at that West Ham side that got relegated. Wow

I must have been watching a different game.

Surprised Dyche is even in the running for this
Our league form is
Villa lost
W Ham won
Arsenal draw
Brentford win
they might be counting Palace draw even though it was in Feb as some played in Jan that weekend

So that's W2 D2 L1

Though actually it's surprising that no PL team has won more than 3 out of their last 6, and only Man Utd are unbeaten. I'd expect it could go to Carrick.

Rosenior isn't far behind but Chelsea have lost 1 where Man Utd have drawn

As for Iraola, same results as Dyche

To be fair, Carrick, Defoe, Cole and Johnson were all very young. Winterburn must have been ancient by that point and Di Canio was starting to get on a bit. Not great centre halves. I've just looked and the rest of the squad, they had players like Lee Bowyer, John Moncur, Steve Lomas, Christian Dailly, Scott Minto and even Les Ferdinand. So loads of names there, but most of them either had already had their best days (a lot for other clubs) or their best days were still to come (again mostly for other clubs). I suppose that's the danger of having an unbalanced team where probably not one player was in their prime (maybe David James is the exception). Still, unlucky to go down on 42 points though.
