Savage's Column (....not a euphemism)

You can talk all you want about Arsenal v Man United but for me the biggest game of the weekend is our local derby with Nottingham Forest.

It's massive for both teams. Forest can go top of they win while we need the three points to push clear of the relegation zone.

Former Derby manager Billy Davies has done superbly at our local rivals, building a young, enthusiastic team with a high work ethic.

But while taking nothing away from them, it's got to be noted that Forest are among the Championship's biggest spenders this season.

If Nigel Clough had the same kind of resources we would be challenging them for promotion.

He just can't help it can he.
Big Spenders? How much are you and Commons on a week?

NLN would just buy the conferance and have a 400 man squad

I hope Savage takes time to commiserate with the other teams in the relegation battle who, with the exception of Reading, are not enjoying parachute payments from the Premiership.

If they had the same kind of resources then Derby would be f**ked.

Derby have used 34 players so far this season and their wage budget is still higher than most teams in the top 10. Derby are shit because they have an inexperienced manager and shit players.. like Savage. Robbie Savage talks shit.

If Nigel Clough had the same kind of resources, Savage wouldn't be getting a game...

It makes me laugh how both their Manager and Captain have already started pleading poverty.

Yeah, we spent more than them this season but it's not like they're amongst the paupers either. Barker cost over £1m, Moxey cost a decent fee and they've brought in a stack of other players on free's/loans that would cost a fair bit of cash.

Anyway, when you consider respective wage bill's with Derby's dwarfing ours, then Billy's doing a great job without their kind of resources.

This is the problem with modern football - big clubs like Forest spending their way to success with their relatively small squad and relatively modest wage budget, whilst the small clubs like Derby have to make do with a huge squad, 10m+ wage budget and parachute payments.

In Nigels defence, who's going to take Savage off his hands?

..or Commons, or Hulse when the players are on stupid money for the work they do?

Would you move jobs for less money and no career improvement?

Savage will milk Direby until the end of his contract unless someone can match his wages. Him and his ilk are Direbys problem.

I think he's reasonably gracious there.

Amusing to hear Clough Jnr on the radio this morning saying that if they got anything out of the game it would be a bonus lol

Bloody Latin words ... for anyone else struggling with that one ...

1. performed, exercised, received, or suffered in place of another: vicarious punishment.
2. taking the place of another person or thing; acting or serving as a substitute.
3. felt or enjoyed through imagined participation in the experience of others: a vicarious thrill.

Brighton were stupid/desperate enough to take him on loan last season...when he fell out with Nigel's predecessor...

And sent him back before the loan expired I think...

They did because they, like everyone else, realised his legs have gone and he can't control a game any more. It's an OK article, if he had brought up Tysongate then I would call him a **** but he is fairly gracious here.

What did Billy say?

Said that he'd ensure we scored the winner in the 94th minute, as that would be more poetic....

I really hope that Forest take no pity on this disgrace of an American franchise tommorow

I mean, murder them. Don't sit back and rest when 3-0 up, go for it. Goal difference may make a difference this season.

the free ticket dwellers of direby may realise just why they get free tickets tommorow

You could almost sense the massive smile across his face as he said it as well.

I think that Derby fans fail to realise that they had a big parachute payment (that no other team around them has had) for the worst season ever by any team in that league, and yet have still managed to get themselves into money troubles. They say we're only where we are coz we spent a lot of money... well yeah and what? if you wanna be at the top then you'll do anything you can to get there... and besides we may have spent more than other teams this season but what about previous seasons? I don't think we've spent very much money at all compared to most of the other championship teams if you add up how much all the championship teams have spent over the last 2, 3 ,4 maybe even 5 years!!!

They really are winding me up more than usual using these s**tty arguments that don't prove ANYTHING except that we are better than they are and they don't know how to deal with it

Let's hope for an absolute thrashing tomorrow just to shut these f**kers up!!!

I love how they are playing themselves the pity card, I have no pity for a team that prides itself on the employment of Lilly Savage

They screwed up, spent up, f**ked up, they are bitter, they would love to be in our position, they envy is almost deafening from Lilly :D
