I think I agree, but to be fair I don't think the ability to score prolifically in the US is a reliable indicator a player could replicate it in the EPL.
Sam was a great finisher, and perhaps the confidence he has developed in the US might mean he would do a decent job back in England.

It was amazing, wasn't it. When he hit it the whole lower Exec went silent for a moment because it had so much bend no-one could tell it was going in. The roar when it flew in the top corner was something else. Despite all the unbelievable moments since that match is still one of my all-time favs

I think for me it was just the almost carefree way Surrdige did it like it was something he did in his sleep.

It was a sort of "there's no way this team does not get promoted" moment.

Agree: that match, the score, the hat trick, everything about the match was amazing.

I normally hate sitting in the Trent end as I cannot see anything, but I was right behind the goal and saw all of the second half goals.

Super Sami Surridge in the second half!

Yeah, this game was such a moment. Battered Swansea home and away, after they were telling us how anti-football Cooper was. Swansea also a side that seemingly had our number over a long stretch all the way back, in my mind at least, to that grim away leg in the play offs. We were also just steamrolling pretty much everyone we played at that time, particularly at the City Ground. Great stuff.

Felt a turning point for Surridge was his goal that was ruled out against United in the league cup semi. Felt like he was running out of time in the club's eyes, and that could have really given him and the club some confidence. Even more gutting that I'm still positive it was onside.

Surridge, Zinc, Spence, Davies, Garner etc always have my respect.

He scored a number of those kind of goals for Forest. I'm still salty at Coops for not giving him a real chance in the Prem.
I thought similar a while back, but had a look and according to Soccerbase he played in 27 games for us that season, scoring in only 2 of those games.

I know a lot of that game time was from the bench, but on those stats I think he probably had enough game time still to have staked a better claim.

I agree mate. His undoing was simple enough to equate. Forest had to use the pace to capitalise on any weaknesses in the first season. Sam is all about the positioning and the finish, I think he seemed a luxury player in a team fighting for its life in the prem.

He did a cracking job for us in the second division but anyone who thinks he's PL level need to give their head a wobble

That's why he's playing in a 3rd rate league
I suppose if we're going to consider the Dutch and Argentine top flight leagues as third rate then one could probably say the same of MLS, although it is ranked ahead of both of those, and ahead of the English Championship.

I've said it many times before, Surridge never got a fair crack at the Prem, so I don't think we can confidently state that he's not Prem standard. In another timeline, I think he'd have surprised a lot of people, had he been given more game time. 10 minutes here and there as a sub at the end of a game is not at all sufficient to base a judgment on.

I think we could say exactly the same about Taiwo last season (32 games total, including cup, 2 goals, no assists), but with less end product than Surridge in 2022-2023 (27 games, including cup, 3 goals, 2 assists).
