At least we have a slightly more exciting counter-attack now. Plus we're playing a better standard of opposition. Trying to shithouse whatever we can from the scraps of possesion from some of Europe's elite...is not quite the same as attempting it at home to Charlton.
Agree a bit of tongue in cheek comment.

37.5% win rate doesn't seem too bad considering their squad, and the position they were in prior to his arrival
2 draws in there so win rate is 33%. Theres always context, but your always at the mercy with such a low win rate & shit football,

They'll board the Nathan Jones xg hype train.

Sure the Watford job will pop up soon and Sabri will get that.

The Cardiff owner (Vincent Tan) has been a bit dissatisfied since his attempt to permanently change their club crest and their shirts from blue to red. In the end, he buckled under fan pressure and it hurt his huge ego. Another owner not interested in football and its traditions but all about the money. I mean, Cardiff City are called the 'Bluebirds'......How can you be that arrogant? It's like someone coming into Nottingham Forest and changing the shirt colour to yellow and the crest to a picture of a dolphin.

Dismissing a manager so nonchalantly after he's just saved you from relegation whilst the club is under an embargo imposed on you because of refusal to make payments. At the same time attempting to sue Nantes for £100m over the death of Emiliano Sala. Both appear to be in extremely poor taste. Not sure any manager with morals will want to go there now.

Cardiff chairman's comments:

"Why is it that it's Cardiff that has to write the cheque out for as much as that? (the transfer fee for Sala). Cardiff is not a wealthy club, it can't afford this"

"So I don't see why people say we're just after money"

Kind of contradicting yourself there mate. Anyway, Cardiff have more reason to go after David Henderson, the former RAF pilot who organised the return flights, who failed to check if the pilot was qualified or if the plane was in good condition or not. Not Nantes.

It's time for the vaporwave rebrand this club has been crying out for.

Looks like an early 90s TV programme. Could be the new El Dorado. I’d watch.
Earlier than that, I‘m getting mid-80s, Miami Vice vibes.

Forest should do this, and get Jan Hammer to write their „entry“ music as they come onto the pitch, wearing warm-up outfits of slip-on shoes, white trousers, casual blazers, with a pastel-coloured T-shirt underneath, and wearing Ray-Bans.

It could catch on.

Has a Hitchhiker's Guide feel to me - but I'm probably getting carried away with the dolphin
Well, so long, and thanks for all the fish!

I liked Sabri's ability to grind out results for a while. But shithousing 1-0 wins with 15%or less possession wasn't the most entertaining watch.
It may come as no surprise but I enjoyed it. It was nice to go into games with belief again, I love a shithouse and I've always enjoyed a counter.

Thing is there wasn't a massive amount of "belief" when you're just sat there watching the defence work hard all the time and then wait for the time Lolley ran the length of the pitch and crossed it for a Grabban tap in.

We were so f***ing one dimensional under Sabri it was scary really. I actually think it was good we didn't make the play offs because if we'd gone up we would have got absolutely noobed in the PL with that squad. Lockdown didn't help us because of the congested end of the season as the squad didn't have an awful lot of depth (Charlton match...) and the cracks were already starting to show before that, so actually I'm not really convinced we had a lot of quality.

Sabri did a fantastic job getting the squad to punch above their weight for 3/4 of the season but in the end there wasn't quite enough to get over the line.

Compare this to 2 years later when we have 2 genuine attacking threats down the right with another in the middle, 2 top strikers, a solid defence which is genuinely secure allowing the team to attack, and a manager with a genuine tactical plan and the squad to execute it.

There was from me - I had a pretty solid run of predicting results under Lamouchi. Generally speaking we'd beat the hard teams and lose to the shit ones (Charlton and Preston - nailed on!).

I also enjoyed watching referees assistant Ben Watson shine again and always had a soft spot for Grabban. Agree with you, but on a personal level I liked it.

It was good because it really did show that the improvement under Marinakis was starting to show after we'd almost got relegated under fatwatz.

In actual fact we'd been in and around the playoffs under Karanka and O'Neill in the previous season but never really threatened but Sabri just managed that bit extra.

But to have a season where we competed even if we fluked it a bit was nice but we overachieved massively and weren't really good enough at all.

Most of the time we kept it tight and won by the odd goal - unlike last season where towards the end we were hitting 3, 4, 5 goals in most matches...

I liked the predictability even, and knowing we were going to take points away from home against the 'better' sides. Swansea? Easy. Fulham? Why not! Shitty Huddersfield? Probably not. Millwall at home? No chance!

I reckon we probably picked up more points away from home that season than at home, and I love that!

Say what you like about Sabri's style of play, but he brought relevance back to Nottingham Forest after a few rough years which is something I will always be grateful for.

Funny looking at the poll and seeing Paul Cook at the top, currently managing Chesterfield in the National League.

Say what you want about Sabri but there was a clear and obvious plan. Under other managers it felt like 11 names were just written on a piece of paper with the hope they might do something. Many times I watched Forest wondering what strategy was to get a goal, or even to create a chance!

If there was a plan going forward you've done well to decifer it.

Bloke had us well drilled defensively, but "give it to Lolley" was as strategic as the attacking brief got.

Did a decent job, but the football was turgid & we bottled it at the crucial time.

That was the plan I meant, I'm not saying it was the best or most subtle, but soak up the pressure then attack them through Cash and Lolley on the break was a plan that did work for quite a while

But when it didn't work...it was rough!
