just heard that after being told a month ago that he had a great future at the club, davies has now apparently changed his mind and told Robbie Gibbons to get out of the club with immediate effect.... I wish you all the best robbie, and In time it will become clear what a big mistake it was letting you go.

nice one billy davies..just heard that after being told a month ago that he had a great future at the club, davies has now apparently changed his mind and told Robbie Gibbons to get out of the club with immediate effect.his crime? asking davies in a meeting if he would be getting a chance in the first team after being on the bench for a couple of cup games... That sounds ridiculous, and is probably an over the top account of what happened.

I cant imagine doughty letting any manager kick a player out of the club just because he asked a question, any more than I can imagine billy actually doing something that farcical.

Sounds very similar to a number of stories from the days of BC.

The crime was more along the lines of: "Give me a game, I have 12 Premier League clubs that want to sign me - if you don't play me, I'll leave."

Cheerio then.

If I remember correctly something along the same script happened in the Platt era, when Prutton broke into the team. There was this another talented England youth-international, Michael Turner(?) I think was the name, close to making the grade.
He gave similar sort of a ultimatum to Paul Hart, then acting as academy director, that he should be given his chance in the first team too, as Prutton had been given.
And out the door he went.

IMO, this kind of behaviour is utterly unacceptable from the (youth) players. Sure, they can ask and talk with decent manner about these things, but whenever such an ultimatum is been given by the player, all they deserve is to get a taxi called for them.

Matthew Turner. Hell of a player; better than Jenas at 15. I think he plays for Wollaton now; would serve as a good warning to young Robbie.

Platt did a documentary with Alan Hansen about young footballers in which he admitted that Forest had been forced to retain a youngster's older brother as, had he been released, the mother would have pulled the younger (infintely more talented) brother out of the academy. That was often blamed on the Turners, but was actually Kev and Mike Dawson. What Platt was doing telling the BBC, I'll never know.

Hope he has a nice career at one of those 12 Premier League clubs then. Shame it won't be with Forest, but that with that attitude, probably for the best.

Platt always seems to try sly dig's at Forest when he can, which is weird as he must feel as though HE was hard done by!!

Now we've signed this Findley and already have Earnshaw, it's probably best that we don't have ANOTHER Robbie at the club. Good move Billy.

Best he goes now than have him oranging around for the rest of the season.

Just did - I asked him what he'd been Monkeying about at - (Gibbons) and he replied that the gaffer just went "Ape"

The gaffer was right, as a gibbon is an ape, not a monkey :p

'Gorilla' tactic backfires for Gibbons as Billy didn't give a Monkey's

Quite a few Premiership scouts had had a chimp and see if he was any good.

It was Pearce, not Platt.

Terrible management, I reckon we should start a 'bonobo what you're doing' chant on Sunday...
