Robbie Findley. Robbie Findley. Robbie FINDLEY.

Well, a striker, a very promising youth player, still fairly young at 25 years old, 100 games and 31 goals in MLS, a US international, went and played at the World Cup in South Africa, trialled with Danish big boys Brondby twice and looked like he was going to sign with them and has pace galore. Yet he was, over the past year or two, without doubt the Marlon Harewood of MLS. A laughing stock. Even the Americans hate him.

See, he's got talent. He's scored goals (well, had one very strong season for Salt Lake) and could be crafted in to something useful, but he was absolutely abysmal at the World Cup, causing him to be a hate figure. Then he returned to MLS this season and was doubly abysmal in the league. He wasn't even a regular starter for Salt Lake this season gone. Still, he's got admirers over Europe, and despite Portland Timbers (managed by Billy D's brother-in-law John Spencer :hey:) drafting the rights to his contract (should he choose to resign with MLS, he'd be with them), he's said he wants to try his luck here.

So, he'd cost nothing, wouldn't break the bank wage wise at all and we could probably stick him on a 6 month contract with options at the end. It's pretty risk free and as I said, despite been shit, there's definitely something worth looking at here. Problem is, he shouldn't be allowed a work permit. Perhaps the fact he went to the World Cup will work in his favour. We'll see!

Sign him up...I guess. However, if we do, prepare to be laughed at by MLS fans. Yes, the level of indignity will be hard to recover from.

And he's no Ben Olsen.
