Like others, I don’t understand to negativity on this lad.
Jones would still be my number 1 target but if we are looking to bring in another younger cm alongside and was a toss up between a promising Bergvall who is yet unable to fully break into a struggling spurs side. For a rumoured £50mil or this lad who is only 1 year older, but feels like he has been around a top city squad for a lot longer also earned a few international call ups for a rumoured 25mill.

I would much rather Lewis for £25mil.

He’s a RB?

Can't really say it's one or other as Lewis predominantly a right back, while would rather get Bergvall in myself, and who was voted Spurs player of the season in 2024-25, is younger and already has 13 caps for Sweden.

Ok, I didn’t realise Lewis was a rb. I thought he was a cdm who could cover rb and being utilised at rb as otherwise unable to break into the Man City midfield… nonetheless £25mil for a 21 year old with international caps in today’s market doesn’t sound bad.
Possibly go for all three at the right price then.

Nobody knows
He's a Pep sideways and backwards passing bot, so they can put them everywhere.

It's a bit like Nico O'Reilly who's an AM but they have been playing him at left back

I think i saw him play for us a couple of times but I can't be sure my first game was Mar 64. Also if i remember correctly he was from Guernsey a place i had never been to and still haven't.
I think you might mean ‘Flip’ Le Flem who grew up in Guernsey (I remember my late uncle talking about him).

Len Julians was born in London.

I recognise both names but both were slightly before my time following Forest.

I've certainly forgotten that.

As far as I'm aware we ultimately decided not to bid, after he signed a new deal and so wasn't likely to be available on the cheap anymore.
Even if he did turn us down, I am not sure you can hold it against him. If your childhood team offered you 5x your wage at the time and made assurances about playing time then I think we all would make the same decision.

The thing with Bergvall is that if he fulfils his potential, he'll be worth 70m+ in a few years. That's where the risk/reward element comes in. Lewis doesn't have that sort of ceiling.

The physical difference (6'2 vs 5'7) is a factor too.

Bergvall and Jones would be a dream start to the window.

Why doesn't he have that ceiling? What is it based on? They are completely different players for a start.

Lewis is 21 years old, has over 100 appearances for Man City & 5 caps for England. Both have top top potential, I don't know why we are even comparing them, Lewis is a right back who can play anywhere. Would you judge Bergvall as any position other that centre mid? He is versatile and has played all over the place too.

Both Lewis & Bergvall would be brilliant signings

Lewis fancies himself as a natural midfielder, so there's obviously some overlap. But yeah, I wouldn't personally make the comparison.

Bergvall has that ceiling because he could end up as a do-it-all player, similar to Anderson. Win a header, tackle, cross, score, whatever. Lewis seems like much more of a specialised player in my limited viewings of him.

But how does that limit his potential? He would just play to his strengths?

If being a do-it-all player is a barometer of potential then why is there so many players at the top level that aren't the exact same physique and style as Anderson?

And the reported fee is said to be £25m, that would be a bargain as far as I am concerned. He doesn't have to become the worlds best player, he needs to become a good Premier League player at the very least which he already is.

Lewis won't be leaving as a backup at City to become a backup at Forest. So the idea of him coming in as someone who can cover multiple positions from the bench isn't going to happen.

We have absolutely no idea what is his best position. He has shown moments (good and bad) at both full back and centre midfield. There is no 'proof of concept' with him at any one position.

I always struggle with taking players from City, especially young players who have only played the Pep way, and dropping them in to a side like Forest who don't dominate the ball.

I am not sure he is any better than what we currently have, and I think that should be the main aim of anyone we bring in. He isn't better than Williams. He may be an improvement on Aina from last season, but not the one from the season before. He isn't better than Sangare or Dominguez in my opinion either.

He had the opportunity to join last season and instead he decided to ride the bench at City. A year of potential first team football lost, stifling his development. I think you also have to ask after being a Pep favourite the season before, why he suddenly became such a bit part player? O'Reilly came in and took his spot and fullback or centre midfield. Nunes got converted from CM to RB to take that spot. City went and signed multiple CM's to 'replace' him.

Being honest, nothing about the transfer feels 'right' to me.

I'm not saying specialised players can't be worth massive money or have sky-high potential. I'm saying that I don't think Lewis will be good enough at his particular role to be in that category.

What he said. Lewis just makes the numbers up at City, Bergvall has apparently demanded to leave to play more and progress. No choice at all that
