Rico Lewis (BUPA)

It is only wrong because your perception that a left footer should be on the left & vice versa

Both are fantastic defenders on either side. Really I think a problem is being created out of nothing.

If we can get someone better than Neco or Aina on the left (we won't), I would say go for it but benching one of those two just to get a left footer in the team is counter productive. They are both 2 of the best fullbacks in the league.
I think the only real stick you could beat Neco with is his tendency to come back inside onto his right foot most of the time. There's many occasion in game where he's done that rather than having the confidence to go outside and cross with his left. With CHO being similar it does make us a little predictable at times down the left flank.

That said, we'd have to part with north of £50-60M to find someone as good as Neco defensively and poses a similar level of attacking threat.

The reason we need a left footed left back is so we can switch the attack in the 2nd half. Give the other team an overlap to deal with. Make us less predictable. There's no part of that that wouldn't make us better and harder to play against

This link just never felt right, as I said earlier. 20 yo England International playing regularly at a mega-rich challenger club. If he was available, there would have been competition.

Fair play to us for asking though, I have no problem with us being "used" by the agent to get his client a new deal. Always good to have agents owe you a favour in return.

Regardless of today, this would have been a huge signing for us. To have achieved what he has, by the age of 20, as a key player of that City team for three years is unbelievable stuff. His technique is fantastic and has a footballing brain on another level for his age. He’d have quickly become a fan favourite here and would have found a place in the side and probably moved round various positions. Really disappointed this one didn’t come off

Just signed a contract extension at City. Looks like the links were only ever a tactic to get him the best deal there.

Decent cover for LB, RB and CM all in one package? Let me think about that...Yes please.

But for how much or who?

Apparently willing to let go Lewis, Bobb and Savinho to fund the Jan recruitment.
I would snatch your hands off for any 3 of those.

Especially Lewis, he would be the most useful at the moment.

I'm really surprised they're willing to let Lewis go. I thought that they would've kept him around and developed him into the side more.

I actually don't believe he would become available to us for any price that we would consider reasonable (or even if these rumours are true in the first place), and I don't think that he is a world beater or anything, but toss? Have to disagree mate. I think he's of a quality that we could use. The fact that he is versatile (and still young) makes him more beneficial to us.

If we have the money, and we aren't/can't go for Lodi, and he's actually available, then gerrim in. It's a no-brainer. Not sure it will happen though.

Elliot Anderson will be our trump card in January and the summer. If there are players such as Lewis at City, or at other big clubs who might be interested in Elliot, we can play hardball and seek to get a preferential deal on the understanding that we give them a fair run at signing Elliot. Not signing him on the cheap, but giving them a clear run compared to the opposition.

Technically gifted player. Risk being he is a Man City McAtee type player.

If a player like Zinch doesn’t fit the Dyche mould, neither will this lad.

I wonder if it’s becuase they have made it clear they don’t want to play in the Championship once City’s 115 verdict is announced 😉

I suspect there is more chance of me playing left back for VfB Stuttgart next season than there is of Manchester City facing any meaningful punishment at all for their in my opinion fairly blatant attempts to buy success by financially taking the piss out of the rules that - it seems - everyone else (who isn't in my opinion owned by billionaires from the Persian Gulf) have to abide by.

I would happily say "prove me wrong", but it seems that City have more money - and lawyers - than God, and will happily tie the Premier League up in a legal midfield for the rest of history if the PL don't f*** off and shut up. Forever.
