Rico Lewis (BUPA)

We might be over hyping Lewis a bit, tidy he might be but world beater he certainly is not.

Nuno doesn't appear to want to wait till 11pm on deadline day for a FB option. If this isn't a goer, we will move on quickly.

I'm going to commit heresy here, but I would like to see Neco and Ola fight it out for the RB spot, and then two natural Left Backs brought in to compete with each other. Along with Luiz and a goalkeeper, that'd complete the squad for me to a standard I'd be delighted with.

Really don't like having players, especially full backs, on their "wrong" side. Neco does it better than most would but as you say it's still a bit forced.

It is only wrong because your perception that a left footer should be on the left & vice versa

Both are fantastic defenders on either side. Really I think a problem is being created out of nothing.

If we can get someone better than Neco or Aina on the left (we won't), I would say go for it but benching one of those two just to get a left footer in the team is counter productive. They are both 2 of the best fullbacks in the league.

At right back he gets caught out by the inside ball - between him and the rightside centre back, his left hand side. This doesn’t seem to happen when he’s on the left, maybe as on the left the inside is his strongest side?
Completely this. His weakness is that ball in gap as you say and his strength is being a relentless terrier when defending. Being on the left supports his strength and mitigates his weakness.

As Rzar is saying, everyone still seems to want him moved purely on the basis he is right footed, despite proving to be one of the best left backs in the league.

I think the left-footed-ness of the left back is a bit overrated.

We've had some decent left-footers in Moreno, Toffolo and Tavares. Aina and Williams have been better.

Someone who can cover multiple positions would be fantastic given the small size of the Europa League squad.

When the DL committee have completed their mission. They’ll resume pre and post talks with city over the possibility of signing a letter of intent for RL to consider a potential move before 2035. We want to pre-include a buy back clause in any future sale of the player if he gets an offer from a top 4 FIFA club World Cup ranking.
It’s looking pretty serious if you ask me!
‘Here we go’ to come eventually!

It’s getting all a bit “Yes, Prime Minister”.

“It's clear that the Committee has agreed that your new proposal for Douglas Luiz is really an excellent proposal. But in view of some of the doubts being expressed, may I propose that I recall that after careful consideration, the considered view of the Committee was that, while they considered that the proposal met with broad approval in principle, that some of the principles were sufficiently fundamental in principle, and some of the considerations so complex and finely balanced in practice that in principle it was proposed that the sensible and prudent practice would be to submit the proposal for more detailed consideration, laying stress on the essential continuity of the new proposal with existing principles, the principle of the principal arguments which the proposal proposes and propounds for their approval. In principle”

I guess it all comes down to, do you want a Champions League version of James Perch who’s still a relative novice in his career at the age of 20 and by all accounts isn’t keen on leaving.

Or a solid experienced international midfielder in his prime, who’s been player of the season for a similar sized Premier League club before and won many other individual awards. Who is keen on leaving…..

That's why Marinakis goes in and declares the player a as "mine" before tucking him under his arm and strolling out their offices.
