The reserves will still play matches, just not every week in a league like they do now.
We'd have a first team squad and an academy, getting rid of the wages on players who will never feature in the first team like Mikael Darnet and Richard Tait etc...
For example, 26 first team players would mean 11 weren't even making the squad each week and so why would you need a completely seperate reserve team?
It just makes sure you have average nobodies in the squad like Emile Sinclair.

Felipe Felop said:Like I said, the reserve 'side' will be made up of those not involved in first team duties that particular week and the academy players.
It's Baggio said:That's exactly what the reserve team is made up with at the minute.
Forest's reserve teams for the last few years (since CC came in and cleared Kinnear's/Megson's dead wood out) have always been made up of 2nd/3rd year academy lads and the odd unfit/out of favour 1st teamer. We don't carry around a squad of reserves.
The only 'Pro's' we have that haven't had any real involvement with the first team are Byrne, Bencherif, Sinclair and Darnet and they've all (apart from Darnet) spent a significant time out on loan. So it's not like we'll be shedding loads of players and shrinking the wage bill as a result of this.
I have no real problem with pulling out of the Pontins League (which is rather uncompetitive anyway) as long as other 'friendly' (although hopefully more competitive) reserve games against teams of better standard are arranged. We still need that link between U19 and 1st team football for the academy players to progress through. It'll be almost impossible for them to progress if all reserve football is scrapped.
