Released list.

Nottingham Forest are to release eight of their young professionals.

Richard Tait, Hamza Bencherif, Liam Hook, Tom Sharpe, Ryan Whitehurst, Adam Newbold, Emile Sinclair and Paddy Gamble have been told that their contracts, which expire this summer, will be not renewed.

Only strikers Sinclair and Newbold made it on to the first team scene at The City Ground.

Sinclair made 17 substitute appearances, scoring once, and has also had spells on loan with Brentford, Macclesfield and Mansfield.

Newbold made four substitute appearances for The Reds this season and scored in a Carling Cup win over Morecambe.

All eight were members of Forest's hugely successful reserve side that have lost just three times in the last two seasons.

They join veteran defender Ian Breckin in leaving The City Ground this summer.

Wasn't Gamble meant to be the best of our young goalkeeping crop?

Half of them will end up at Mansfield...

Gutted. Whitehurst turned into a world class striker for me on Football Manager.

Can't believe anyone would moan abut this. It was clear from what I have seen that these lot would never play at a decent level.

It's about time we became a little more ruthless as a club. In the long run it will probably benefit those players released.

For too long we have held on to likes of the Hamza's & Weir-Daley's of this world until well past their sell by date. It doesn't do them any favours either playing uncompetitive reserve football!

All the players released are within a year or 2 years of Joe Garner, Chris Cohen & Joel Lynch and yet they are no where near as ready as these guys for championship football

I expect next season we'll loan out the likes of Heath, Moloney, Redmond, Hopkinson, Darlow to L1 and L2 clubs to see if they can make the grade. We have essentially just gotten rid of the players that are likely to fill the reserves (which if rumours are to be believed will not exist anyway).

Onwards and upwards....

No. Darlow is the hot prospect between the sticks.

He is now but Gamble was a few years ago, I remember speaking to Dave Watson (our former GK coach) and he thought Gamble was a top goalkeeping prospect.

We've had enough managers in the past 2/3 years that would recognise and promote any talent from our youth setup. Also, we've yearned for some quality in areas. If any of these lads were up to championship level we'd have seen them. It's sad, i hate to see young lads pushed out, but if they were up to much cop.....

It's just like Weir-Daley, Beaumont , Gardner (incidently playing for Eastwood Town now), guff we're better off without.

No surprises really,Sinclair and Newbold for all their efforts etc are not at the expected standard this club requires to break through on a regular basis.

When Sinclair started at Ipswich Davies later said he was a million miles away from what we want at this club.

You know who else will never make it?

Moloney - he's not good enough and is shit - he will end up playing for Chesterfield permanently very soon.

Byrne and Redmond were out of contract as well and there's no mention of them.

I presume they've been offered new deals.

It's unfortunate for the players concerned, but if they were never going to make it at Championship level then it's best to get rid of them. No point in hanging onto anyone we don't need.

Yeah, and Whitehurst turned into a class player on one of my FM games too, lol.

I'd be shocked if we've let Gamble go and kept Redmond. Despite Redmond being older, Gamble always looked the better keeper.

I'd assume Redmond is rated higher as when we have a keeper on the bench it's usually him. Isn't he Irelands U21 keeper too?
