Refs for the playoffs.

Viv Anderson
Phil Dowd for first leg, and Mark Clattenberg for second leg.

Not sure about Clattenberg personally, I'm sure someone will dig up some stats on them.

On another note Charlie Adam has 14 yellow cards, one more would result in an automatic 3 game ban. Would be a good side plan to wind him up in the 1st leg so he can't travel down here.

Clattenberg's the **** who sent off Dawson in the playoffs isn't he?

Wasn't Dawson sent off in the second leg? He refereed the first leg

"Nevertheless, later in the 2002-03 season, Clattenburg was chosen to referee two play-off semi-finals - the Division One first-leg 1-1 draw between Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United at the City Ground on 10 May 2003,[7] and the Division Two second leg home win by QPR over Oldham at Loftus Road on 14 May 2003, which put Rangers through to the Final."

Clattenberg didn't have the best of games down here later this season. Was it against Swansea ?

Nope; 1st. I remember it was at the City Ground.

Clattenburg loves the lime-light and will want to be at the centre of everything.

The 1st thing I always think of when I hear his name is that semi-final against Sheff United

Up his own arse type of ref the worst kind.

A good ref is always one who you can't remember his name or face.

Both Dowd and Clattenberg are the polar opposite of that. I was really keen to play Garner in the first leg and build on his recent goals but I am absolutely certain that the whistle happy, limelight hungry Premiership refs would clamp down on him and probably see us end up with 10 men.

Phil Dowd was in charge of the 0-0 draw at Coventry when we had Louis-Jean and John sent off for next to nothing as well. Don't like the fact that both ref's have screwed us over in the past.

I like Phil Dowd.

He's the ref players are scared to argue against, he just tells 'em to bugger off or get booked.

Howard Webb would of been a good choice

Howard Webb, King of the Bottlers? No thanks. Every big game I've seen him do he's made a hash of big decisions. He's way overrated, mostly because he's physically able to deal with handbags between players, which I've seen some of the smaller Premiership refs do as well.

Webb's an awful referee. I've no idea how he's our 'top ref'.

As for Clattenburg - he's a twat. Quite obviously in love with himself and I saw the other day that he's had a hair transplant recently. Think we need to be on his back about that!

Hmmm, I'm not sure that will work in getting the decisions going our way mate!

I always remember fletch on gem am or century at the time, raving about clattenburg.

I always thought it was him who sent off beasant for having his foot stamped on, but in hindsight...thats probably wrong.

Yeah , i'm sure that will help sway his decisions. :spankarse:

I've heard that one of the big Spain side (Barca or Real) regularly give large "gifts" to Referees officiating their home games. It's not seen as a bride as it is just give as a "gift" (not cash) without any discussion of favouring the home side or anything like that.

Bet it makes a difference though..maybe we could try it!
