DanR lives in Beeston I believe.

Indeed. Both DanR and myself have holiday homes in Beeston.

It's nightlife, shopping opportunities and close proximity to Nottingham Riviera make Beeston the ideal place for young, dynamic men such as ourselves.

Flagman's Dad's over that way (and Mum too!) and I'm in that neck of the woods often.

Is that so you can hear when the river floods?

I have lived in Beeston ever since I moved to Nottingham. There is much excitement there this morning as the revamped Sainsburys is about to reopen.

There are several decent pubs, such as the Vic, Belle & Jerome, Library, Hop Pole and several shockers, such as White Lion, Prince of Wales.

And there are a few tramps. Their leader is a drunk bloke who holds his trousers up with a piece of string. He can usually be found on Broadgate shouting at nothing in particular.

^^^^^^^^

Fastlane. Runs around with wellies on the wrong feet even though they have L & R written on them. Shouting "Go home John" "12345 RUN!"

Certainly a classy town. I wouldn't say Bell and Jerome of The Library have much to offer, much rather go somewhere with live music ie. Greyhound.

Is The Star still there, the one made famous by Boon and Sir Brian?

It's still there, I used to live just round the corner from there. It's got a kids playground, and a sign saying 'no kids in the pub'. I've not been in for years, last time I was in there ended up playing 'sticky 13' one Saturday afternoon.

One that Ubique can confirm, the Bar (formerly the Bakery) is good for gatecrashing 18 year old's birthday parties.

What about Chequers on the High Road (always good for under age drinking when I was a kid) and The Hop Pole?
