I would personally say Perch is more like Thompson = not very good.

What on earth can you mean.......................Perch has grown in quality, he has been tested this season and rose to the challange. His role at the club may not be spectacular but is certainly very vital...........who are you comparing him to, Ronaldo or Giggs maybe ?

Quality? What on earth do you mean?, the quality of being able to tackle a bit or the art of passing sideways.
You rate him Sedgred thats your choice, I don't.

It's amazing how much people opinions differ, but it would be boring if we were all the same I suppose.

It's amazing how the holding midfielder isn't really understood by a large majority of Forest fans.... It would be amazing if we all understood it i suppose......

Oh I understand the holding midfielder if your comment was aimed at me I just don't think he's a particularly good one.
Although he has improved this season, but I think we need a better one Moussi may be that, I wasn't one of those who IMO got carried away with Moussi after a couple of appearances but he needs a chance.

I am not convinced that Moussi is a holding midfielder, he certainly didn't play in that role when he was playing at the beginning of the season. Regarding Perch he really doesn't given the credit he deserves, After he went off in the cup game against the sheep McCommons ran the show. He was hardly in the game prior to that. Coincidence?

I hate how anyone that doesn't rate Perch gets the 'Oh, you don't understand the role' rubbish launched at them, it was the same when anyone dared to criticize Gary Holt.

I understand perfectly what I want from my holding player. We had an excellent one last year that we let go in Sammy Clingan, a man who could keep the ball, make himself available for the ball whilst always putting in a good shift and winning plenty of balls.

Perch is a hard worker and a good tackler, I don't think he offers us much else.

I personally feel Cohen is wasted on the left, and feel we need a left sided midfielder to free up Cohen to play in the centre alongside Mcgugan, plenty of energy and forward movement and Cohen is more than capable of putting his foot in.
Perch would do a good job for me off the bench.

If you can't/couldn't see the value of Sammy Clingan then, well, you're beyond help.

I have a feeling that if we got rid of Perch and kept Clinghan different views may be heard.

I certainly feel Clinghan is a better midfielder than Perch, he just offers more.

If Clingan had stayed then Perch would've been free to play in defence where he wants to play, where Davies has said that's where 'his talents lie' and where he's performed best.

I also think Perch would be better in defence, at right back where some of his best performances have come.
Mind you he has to dislodge another great player in Chambers first. ::)

I honestly think James Perch's best position might be Centre-Back; we may even see him there this season if and when Guy Moussi comes back from injury!

Moloney-Perch-Morgan-Bennett could be our starting back four next season??

Perch wants to play in midfield, so where you got that from I am not sure? Maybe a old quote of his? Davies and Calderwood both see something in him to play that role, Davies has also made him club captain.... I guess they must both be wrong though, as are some of the fans......

People moan about perch no being able to make a forward pass or indeed be attacking in any sense, and then rave over Clingan? who rarely did any forward passes in his time here.... I would hazzard a guess that Perch has more assists to his name than Clingan in the holding midfield role........
