Haha, that was linked before. Not exactly the finest advert for Derby.

Perhaps they could invest in a half-decent school or two. Something tells me that is a more pressing issue in that town than a World Cup bid :D.

That's brilliant on oh so many levels!

Good public transport, ha! Have you ever read an advert for any settlement anywhere who doesn't wheel that line out? The fact that it's in reference to a city without a bus station, (or indeed a super-modern tram :tophat:) is especially hilarious.

Showcase cinerma? Hmm, Cornerhouse/Broadway/World's smallest cinema. No chance duck.

And what the hell is the Derbyshire destrite? Presumably the Peak District? I'll gladly give the poor fellow that one as it's an incredible place, however it's hardly much use to your average beer and hotel needing football fan is it? And the fact that he can barely even name the place correctly shows how much good the locals are.

Our bid has been shambolic, no doubt about, but one quick look at Derby or Leicester and it becomes so blindingly obvious that we're the only city in the East Midlands who ever had a chance really.

An lively and modern shopping centre in an otherwise dull and uninspiring shithole is about the fairest I can be towards Derby.

Do you think this is what Derby submitted to the FA?

I think this was slightly better thought out than their actual bid.

In this part of the country, Luton Town fans have gone to war against Milton Keynes being selected. An article has appeared in the local paper and there's even a Facebook group which has sprung up.

In the newspaper article, they said it should have gone to Derby or Leicester but then I thought there was a rule concerning the minimum distance between host cities i.e. they're too close to Nottingham.

I'm not sure there's a rule as such, but there was a desire expressed to have a geographical spread by the World Cup committee. How that explains Newcastle and Sunderland being selected, I'm not sure.

Can understand the hostility towards the MK bid - much like everything to do with McFranchise Dons, but the sad fact is their usurping and pissing on the ghost of Wimbledon FC was ratified by the Football League and whoever else, so any residual bitterness we or other fans may have can't really get in the way of their 'right' to pitch for and win events like this.

After it's 700th reading in the Prideless Boardroom what you are seeing is the 290th draft that has now been submitted to the FA. ;D
