FFS, I've had an absolute nightmare these last couple of days and dropped some right clangers. Don't let Gobias see this post for Christ sake.Surely Tyrannosaurus arms, no? A Pterodactyl's arms were it's wings..
Nah mate, take it as badge of honour, we stand proudly as the only forum I know (and I visit far more than my fair share) where you can get involved in high quality pedantry and banter over whether you use the "correct" dinosaur in your allusions (and before anyone gets extra picky with me I know Pterodactyls are actually called Pterosaurs and were not dinosaurs, but Archosaurs)FFS, I've had an absolute nightmare these last couple of days and dropped some right clangers. I 100% agree that we shouldn't go near him at this stage of his career but I find it hard to agree that he's a wasted talent (he's won 10 major trophies, including 4 league titles, has over 80 caps and 20 goals for his country, and an MBE). I also don't understand why he shouldn't take whatever megabucks contract a club is willing to offer him. I think he'd done than most by the time he was 27. You can argue footballers get paid disproportionately compared to other professions and again, I'd agree, but it's not on him that Chelsea, etc. throw those ridiculous amounts around.Embodies all that's wrong in the game -- wasted talent rewarded with tens of millions of wasted money.
No barge pole is long enough.
That right there encapsulates everything about this forum. I read earlier that he walked away from £23M to terminate his contract with Chelsea.I 100% agree that we shouldn't go near him at this stage of his career but I find it hard to agree that he's a wasted talent (he's won 10 major trophies, including 4 league titles, has over 80 caps and 20 goals for his country, and an MBE). We were discussing this on another thread, footballers are amongst the highest tax payers in this country & are the minority of rich people that actually pay their tax - so relating the plight of the NHS & councils to the amount of money within the Premier League is fairly misguided. There will be people that earn billions & pay less tax than the average PL footballer.Perhaps me being naive, but when I read how much he was earning-it was mind blowing. Not played since 2024 and earning £325,0000 a week-so 3.5 years so far has made him £59 million then has been paid off for the last 18 months which will be another 15 or so million. So give or take 70 odd million!! That’s not then taking account his previous contracts!! Our country is in mess-you hear shocking tales about schools, NHS, councils etc and the money within the premier league is unbelievable. Not blaming him, as we would all fill our boots but wow!!

Something like that?
I read earlier that he walked away from £23M to terminate his contract with Chelsea.
Maybe the fella just genuinely wants to play again?
Let's be honest, from this point on, it doesn't matter whether he earns £30M p/w or £0 p/w it's going to make zero difference to his life or how he lives it because he's already accumulated enormous wealth.
