Raddy!

I fear that we may lose Raddy in the summer. January was our chance to tie him down to a permanent deal, we failed to do so, he is in the shop window (Just like we put Shorey) for all premiership clubs to see. Now regardless of whether we go up or not, i think our chance of signing him have all but gone. Pissed off. Hell of a player.

Whats your thoughts?

NFFC signed raddy on a season long loan with first dibs at 1.5mil

Never pay over the odds, leave it till the summer when you know wha gwon, and then sign a contract.

People getting slightly worried over Forest for the smallest thing!

This team lost 1 in the last twenty and is surely getting into the playoffs. Billy's record indicates more than that.

Never stops surpricing me how fast some Forest fans moans...
We have Rado until the end of the season with an option to buy at £ 1,5 mill. Whats the hurry? No one negotiate on a contract like that until April/May. Rado is a Red

Am not moaning at all, just making an opinion. Am greatful of having him till the end of the season. Hardly moaning mate. If thats the only downside thats to come this season then am quite happy :).

Surpricing is it? :p

If we don't get promoted I wouldn't imagine he would sign. He will certainly of caught the eye of teams who will offer him more money and a higher standard of football.

How do you enforce a "first refusal" clause if the guy doesn't want to play for you?

Not saying this is the case with Raddy, just a general question.

You've got to think what would be the point in signing him in Jan when:

1. He'd demand higher wages than we're currently paying
2. He could suffer a career threatener between now and the end of the season and not be able to play for 2 years (ala Bennett)
3. We've got first option on him in the summer and the cash for that transfer can be sat in our bank attracting interest for the next 6 months

Makes no sense to sign him now

We could sign him at any point from now on anyway couldnt we? Just wouldnt be put through to next transfer window. No big deal not signing him in january really.

It makes perfect sense to sign him now. He is worth a lot more than the £1.5 million we have agreed. When you have the chance to buy anything at considerably less than its value you do it as soon as possible or someone else will.

That's without even looking at the footballing side of it. If we don't tie him down his agent will get wind of Premiership interest and other clubs will bid for him. Then all he has to do is turn down our contract and he can talk to premiership clubs.

I'm glad to see that as a club we are very wise with money and don't waste millions on poor players anymore but there is also such a thing as false economy. If we don't buy players like Raddy and Moses when we have the chance. We will watch them play for other clubs and eventually be worth millions.

Now the money wasting has been stemmed we need to take the next step and start investing wisely in young talent like Raddy and Moses. We are identifing good talent. Now we need the courage to back our instincts and sign these players. That is the next step for us as a club to become a secure Premiership team.

If we had watched Collymore sign for a lower Prem team and only had Bohinen and Roy on loan would we have ever finished 3rd and got into europe? What if we brought Roy Keane over on loan instead of signing him? We would probably have watched him have a good season and then sign for Man Utd for free.

Letting players like these get away is just a different way to waste money.

But we dont know that we didnt try to sign him. For all we know everything was sorted and Raddy said no i want to wait till the summer to see where we are. At the end of the day we arent guaranteed premiership football next season, he may be enjoying him time here but come the end of the season if you have a premier league club or a championship club wanting to sign you with guarantted first team football at either then you are going to go for a premiership team everytime. If i was raddy its what i would be doing, i mean if he doesnt sign now then he still has the option to in the future so its no big deal!

I'm sure we have. The failing from my point of view is that we didn't buy him in the summer. We did all the hard work. Identifed a real quality player and then didn't follow it through.

These posts are pointless unless we know the true facts. I've never actually seen it in black and white that we have first dibs on him for 1.5 million.
From where I'm sitting there appear to be 2 scenarios

1) He will sign a contract with Forest in the summer for 1.5m(if he and the club are happy) or it's offski back to Polonia.

2) He could sign for 1.5m but there is a way out if he claims he is unhappy at forest and is desperate for a big money move.

If option 1 is true then people are right in saying we are better off signing him in the summer in case he breaks his legs and also keeps him working hard to avoid being sent back to poland.
If there is any glimmer of truth in option 2 then it would be a massive f*** up by the club not to snap him up. If there's any window of opportunity he could move to a prem club, particularly if we're not promoted then I can see it happening.
Any way we can find out the hard facts of his loan contract?

This is what one polish blog thought about the move, I'm glad they were wrong

Is Nottingham Forest a good place to restart Majewski’s career? It looks as the least likely place to do that. Championship football is full of physicality, long balls and direct play. Remember that Majewski was physically outplayed even in the Polish Ekstraklasa. He’ll be literally killed in the Championship. The ball will spend most of the time over his head rather than at his feet. What I’m saying is that at first glance the move to Nottingham Forest looks disastrous for him. What’s his only hope? I want to believe that the Forest’s manager knows a lot about our playmaker (he claims that he’s scouted him for some time) and will somehow fit the gameplan to Majewski’s abilities. After all, Billy Davies can’t be that stupid to acquire a player that, on paper, has no chances of succeeding in his team. On the other hand, after loan moves of Ebi Smolarek and Przemyslaw Kazmierczak I’m not that sure that English managers know much about the Polish players that they obtain.

Its only the NEP but

NOTTINGHAM Forest are looking to complete a £1.5m deal to sign Polish midfielder Radoslaw Majewski permanently.

The Reds had the foresight to agree a potential future fee for Majewski (pictured) when they signed him on a season-long loan from Polonia Warsaw in the summer.

I'm sure Raddy has an agent.

I'm sure his agent will have noted Raddy's performances, quality, goals etc.

I'm sure his agent will be hawking round every club he can find in order to ensure the best slice of money for the agent deal for his player.

It is to be hoped that we are promoted and that he's happy in Nottingham, else he may well be moved by his agent.

NOW, simple lesson in business for the dumb.

You have a contract that says you loan the player until the end of the season and then you have first call at 1.5m pounds to buy them, in the summer.

Do you :

a/ Rush to buy the player in January and spend your 1.5m pounds ? (and by doing so throw away 6 months of investment income on that 1.5m pounds).

b/ Keep that 1.5m invested in whatever and earning interest/income, and then use the 1.5m in the summer as is the original agreement ?

Most knobs would choose a.

Any intelligent person would choose b.

From yesterday's "Fakt" - not really a reliable source of information usually, but these are Radoslaw's words, so they couldn't twist them too much, I guess

http://www.efakt.pl/Majewski-wali-z-lokcia,artykuly,63435,1.html

"– Chcę tu zostać i mam nadzieję, że tak się stanie. Menedżer Nottingham Billy Davies wspominał mi już, że są ze mnie zadowoleni i wszystko wskazuje na to, że pogram w Nottingham dłużej niż tylko do końca sezonu. Ale to już nie moja sprawa, niech działacze dogadują się między sobą. Teraz już wiem, że w Anglii dam sobie radę".

"- I want to stay here and I hope I will. Manager Billy Davies has told me that they are pleased with me and everything tells me that I will be playing for Forest longer than just until the end of the season. But it's not my work, let the clubs' boards talk about it. Now I know I can succeed here".

Sorry. But as a Nottingham Forest supporter of some years I'm afraid you have me on this one.

Could you please explain the 'buy the player in January and spend your 1.5m pounds' concept to me? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the idea.

What does buying a player in January mean?

:)

If we had of signed him in January, it wouldn't have been money that could have been used elsewhere we didn't spend any.
His parent club may still choose not to sell him at all, so buying him now may not have been our decision.

So he could be called back to polonia Warsaw in the summer and then sign a worthless contract there for a little while and then be snapped up for about 3 milion by a prem club. I'm sure a lot of prem clubs are looking into ways of prising him away from us. It depends on how much he and the polish club have been tapped up.

Sedge and Widdow (on TalkForest) have both suggested that Polonia are playing silly buggers over the fee and that the £1.5m 'agreed fee' might not have actually been agreed.
