Perch is a tackling centre midfielder, always has been, and his best performances have been ther. The fact he is always out of position when playing defence is enough proof. Even when he played well against Newcastle, he was always behind the player chasing backwards - he spent the entire match running towards our goal! I do like Perchy, but he's never been a defender and doesn't read the game like one and I've never understood why people have seen him as a defender.

Adam

But we now have McKenna, Moussi and possibly a.n.other in the summer for that position, meaning Perch is redundant in that role as well. So I just don't really see where he fits in any more as we try to move this club forward even further. Whoever compared him to O'Shea as well, have a word? How can you even compare the two? One has played for one of the biggest clubs in the world for many years, is a champions league winner etc etc

You do know that he came through the academy as a CB?

You want scapegoats for last night?

How about all those players that missed about 20 chances to score when we played Blackpool at our place last year?

We lost 1-0 and should have won 7-1.

Take those three points off them and last night wouldn't have happened.

I blame Swansea. They should have been able to hold onto 6th place, we'd have beaten them over 2 legs.

What's your point? A lot of players start off in different positions, Gunter started off as a forward but you wouldn't dream of playing him there now.

Perch has shown time and time again that he doesn't have the positional sense or ability to read the game like a defender has to.

Why do you think Chambers comes in and plays well at full back or centre back, despite not being particularly fast or tall? Why was Breckin so good for those couple of seasons until his legs totally went? Because they are defenders with those abilities.

Perch's best abilities are all what you need to play centre mid - a good engine, a good tackle, he's fairly tall so can win headers, he gets stuck in and occasionally pops up with an important goal. He also has the guts to go and play somewhere he doesn't want to and try his best, which is admirable.

As they guy said just above, we have McKenna and Moussi in Perch's best position too, so Perch is really a back up.

I don't want to bang on about it, but for all Billy's moaning about round pegs in square holes, he is the one playing players out of position when we have players who can play in the right positions.

On that note, where the hell has McCleary got to? Him and Anderson are wide players yet we play Tyson and Cohen, neither whom are wide players, out wide, and it didn't work whatsoever. Billy should take the rough with the smooth on this one.

Everyone knows I love a moan and I am now fed up of moaning myself as I'm sure everybody else is, but honestly, what I am talking about is areas we can improve on and what's the point if you don't always strive to improve? I am very optimistic for automatic promotion next season if we can refine the few things I've been talking about.

I can't disagree with you there. Joel Lynch should have been at left-back and Anderson should have started instead of Tyson.

I honestly thought that is how we would line up after Perch and Tyson's performances, or lack of them, in the first leg.

Bang on. Cohens best position is cm, but had the Moose been fit I'd have been tempted to play Cohen left-back last night. Best left back at the club, imo.

No scapegoating here, proud of the lot of 'em. Have to accept that the best player on the pitch last night, by a country f***ing mile, and the reason we're not going to Wembley, was Charlie Adam.

Umm, I'd say the reason we're not going to Wembley was DJ Campbell, personally. Much as I hate the flying w**kstain.

Though you might disagree with me lol

Aye, the 'orrible dj might well have scored 3  , but Adam was different class, he controlled the midfield on his own and stopped Kenno or Raddy playing. Oh, and the wingers. And our full-backs pushing on etc etc. IMO ;)

No, that was Southern and Vaughan. Adam was too busy trying not to get booked, he did f*** all, barely even noticed him.

Their centre backs, right back, keeper and Campbell were all better than Adam as well.
