Preston chairman Derek Shaw has hit out at Coca-Cola Championship rivals Nottingham Forest over their pursuit of long-serving skipper Paul McKenna.
Reds boss Billy Davies, who worked with the 31-year-old during his time in charge at Deepdale, revealed the latest bid for McKenna was in the region of £750,000.
It was the third time that North End had turned down a bid from Forest for McKenna and Shaw told the club`s official website: "I can confirm last week we did receive a third bid from Nottingham Forest for Paul McKenna, but we again turned it down.
"We have found Nottingham Forest's behaviour to be rather unfair. How dare they make a bid for one of our players? How on Earth are we expected to put together a good team, when other sides are allowed to sign our players? They would even resort to dirty tricks, like offering to pay him more money than we do."
"We do not like to do our business in the public arena and would not have publicised this had Silly Billy not gone running off to snitch us up to the local rag."
