Premier League Potential

It would be interesting to gather your opinions on which players (if any) you think are ready to play or could potentially play in the premier league and hold their own. I'm not saying we're going to be there next season or anything, just thought it would be interesting!

This may be controversial but i think Wes could play in the PL now, probably Majewski too. Potentially i'd say Moussi, McGugan, Gunter, Anderson and maybe Cohen and Blackstock could make the step up.

If Brian Jensen is Premier League quality then either Camp or Smith are.

As said numerous times last night, we still have a VERY young squad. Most members could potentially play in the Premier League in the future. My own choices are:

- Blackstock (23) for sure
- Anderson (21) for sure
- McGugan (20)
- Cohen (22) for sure
- Gunter (20) already has, for sure
- Tyson (27) late Prem arrival, I feel
- Majewski (22) if more consistent

The rest.. not too sure. McGoldrick certainly has the ability, but whether or not he can maintain it throughout 90 mins remains to be seen.

Earnshaw's also been there and done it there in the past.Don't think he will be here if we see premiership football in the near future however.

Morgan, Gunter, Cohen, Majewski, Anderson, and Mckenna I think could all do a job in the premiership now.
Potentially I'd say Mcgugan, Moussi, Blackstock and Mcgoldrick could play there with a bit of development.

I'm not sure many of our players will ever have what it takes to cut it in the Premiership. When I see somebody like Andy Reid, who was an outstanding talent for us, struggle to make his way in the Premiership, I really wonder if the transition is simply too massive for most players. Reid has now made it as far as I'm concerned but it has taken him an awful long time. I don't think anyone at this club is anywhere near Reid's standard at the moment though. Majewski would be an obvious choice but then he isn't our player and could yet be snatched from under our noses. Gunter has time and intelligence (footballing) on his side. Apart from those two I don't see many with the ability or nous to make it. Blackstock could probably be a very useful target man though with the work he does, and with a bit of work could very well be a lower-half Premiership striker. I think anybody who genuinely feels that Wes Morgan could ever make it as a Premiership footballer has taken their delusion to the extreme. Morgan has become a decent, throw your arse in the way Championship centre-back, but he'd struggle to cope with the top class Premiership strikers and would have his work cut out even to contend with the Davies of this world.

Thing with Reid is I recon he'd have made it long before now had he gone to the right team for his level. He was never good enough to make the grade at Spurs and his game time suffered. Had he gone to a team where he would be a regular starter then I think we would have seen the best of him as we are starting to again now he is a regular at Sunderland.
I don't think any of our players would make it into the team at a top premiership side but some could definately hold their own at the likes of Blackburn/Bolton etc

hard to say as the current crop has 3/4 of season left together so who knows how that will effect them in terms of growth, you only have to look at players like robbie blake and marlon king who okay they are not premiership class players but they have done a job at that level. right then in terms of doing a job for us and fighting for our first season in the premier and staying there.

camp - smith are both capable of doing a job at this level.
gunter didnt get a chance at spurs but he is more than capable of doing the job.
morgan if he continues to grow the way he is now then who knows.
wilson has the potential its just a case of how he devolops this season.
mckenna will be his last chance at top flight and you can bet your life he will have a blinder.
anderson he is a rough diamond still but he is 100% better this season than what he was last season and his pace will scare the life out of ageing prem defenders
tyson same as anderson tbh but I see him more of a impact sub next season if we where in the premier he would scare people silly with tired legs and 10 mins to go
raddy one of the players that has the pottential to become a huge premiership player and lets hope its with us and not someone else.
blackstockout of all our strikers I think he is the main one who is ready to make the step up.

Mcgugan and Mcgoldrick would probably benefit from the expereince and probably devolop over the season.

the key thing is who we bring in once we have gone up id say dawson would probably be top of my list, along with another quality striker proven at that level (expensive I know) and a few more defenders if we havent already covered that avenue already

I'd like to see an 'elder statesmen' of the McKenna mould brought in to the defence if we are promoted.

I think our midfield would be good enough, and we definitely have the potential to score goals at that level.

It would be interesting to see who Billy would bring in.

Billy is right when he says our squad isn't ready. To be fair, although I love this optimism I cannot help but think promotion may cause more damage than good. We need a good run to the play off's give us lots of confidence and our young squad experience together with the newly found ability and strength to cope with the Premiership...

When you look at potential, think how much they players have improved to meet this seasons teams. They have all grown in experience and stature. Certainly they will get even better under Billy

- Blackstock (23) for sure not so sure.
- Anderson (21) for sure needs to improve further
- McGugan (20) can't even prove himself in the championship at the moment
- Cohen (22) for sure needs to improve further
- Gunter (20) already has, for sure already has ? when ? A tottenham reserve ? hardly proven
- Tyson (27) late Prem arrival, I feel will need more than just pace to survive in the premiership
- Majewski (22) if more consistent the only one that might be able to but hard to say

The rest.. not too sure. McGoldrick certainly has the ability, but whether or not he can maintain it throughout 90 mins remains to be seen.

You look at Jordi Gomez , fantastic last season for swansea , their playmaker and scored 14 goals in all from midfield. Martinez brought him along to wigan but this season , he has struggled badly to make the step up.

Promotion talk..I love it!!

As i stated at the start, i wasn't presuming that we are going up at all. Just wanted people's views on who they think could cut it in the future
