Pre-season tour in China

Not new , during the friendly with the ireland national team this season where Kerslade took charge , CC took off with MA to china to see and explore the commercial aspects. The whole China trip was always a PR stunt and commercial venture to explore the chinese market.

Was discussing this last night.

It would be so much better, for the fans at least, if they arranged a couple of friendlies in Europe. I think giving the fans the chance, especially during the summer months, to take a few days off and follow Forest into Europe for very little money is quite rewarding.

Would love to see usorganise a friendly somewhere like Poland, Slovakia or Czech Republic.

Excuse for a couple of days away and a few beers.

Come on Forest, do something for the fans.

Hmm...I can't help but think back to that pre-season tour we did in America, which buggered Paul Hart's team up...

It's pretty clear this is a business thing more than Football, though. Plus, we've played in Europe twice this season (3 times if you want to count Wales).

If my brother is still in China around that time I think I'll definitely be going although it would pretty much cost all of my savings. :D

I just thought the Dublin trip was so good for the fans that a bit of an extended one, somewhere in Eastern Europe, would be fantastic.

f***ing hate this shit. Keep this sort of business crap out of football. We're a Nottingham club, not some global franchise like McDonalds.

The China trip was organised a long time ago. We were meant to go this summer if I recall but had to postpone it.

It's not a pre-season tour. We fly out a few days after the end of the season.

The last time the chinese came over to the UK for a match , it ended up as a mass brawl. Who knows what will happen when forest plays at their country ?!

Lmao you read the ridulous comments underneath that video ?

Me and a few friends were talking a while back on how we would like us to go somewhere in Europe because we missed out last summer. A cheap 2/3 night break involving football and alot of beer in a place where they all talk funny ... would be good.

Forest’s planned visit China should be good for all involved.

The Premier League has proposed matches outside of England to enable overseas supporters go to live matches. Obviously the marketing and sales potential is the main draw for the clubs.

As well as growing up in Nottingham, I’ve lived in China, Hong Kong and Singapore and the population in most parts of East Pacific love English football and the top teams from Spain and Italy. The downside is it’s always the same English teams that everyone loves; Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs. Yes Spurs. Chelsea has recently been added to the list of people’s favourite team due to José Mourinho and winning the league a few seasons ago. Everyone wants to support the Premier League and European winners or the team that play the most attractive football (Arsenal). There is lots of room for other clubs to prosper in Asia if they are successful on the pitch or have a good kit (Spurs).

China also has a lot of new stadiums and the infrastructure is good, so it’s a step up from playing at Mansfield, Lincoln and Dunfermline. Plus the talent pool in China is improving so we may spot someone with potential.

I’ve seen Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid in Hong Kong and none of those teams were whinging about a bad pre season after their visit to the region. They get treated like royalty, stay at 5-star hotels and have good training facilities. The downside is the weather can be a bit hot during the day.

Forest need to design a better kit though, as this would help with marketing revenue in Asia. Alternatively we need to promote Joe Zhao from the Academy into the first team before the end of the season.

His contract ended a few weeks ago. Besides, we'd never have been able to play him as he wouldn't qualify for a work permit.

It wouldn't surprise me if he took part in a few of the games in China, though.

Its a business trip to promote trade with Nottingham in China, The City Council are organising it and many local businessed are also making the trip. In fact thats why it was orginally cancelled as too many local firms wanted to go. No surprice given the size of the chinese market. Nottingham Forest were invited a long for the ride but more to do with trade than anything else however given the likelyhood of Capital One not renewing their sponsorship a link with China woudn't do us any harm

I thought one of the reasons for cancelling was because it looked like we were gonna be involved in the play-offs last May?

i thought it got cancelled was because of a political situation in china.

That's unlikely because not an awful lot has changed.

He doesn't have a work permit so can't play. He's also back off to China relatively soon.
