I think too much is being read into this. I think he meant that he didn't let the abuse gt to him. From the start he has said he has needed to win the fans over, and also praised the fans for their support and how much he feels for them. I doubt very much he would say he doesn't give a damn about any of them !

Speculate if you want but seriously, there's no issue this needs to be made into !

Did you actually hear what was said or are you taking this from another source.
He most defnattly did say he didn't care about the fans who abuse him, he said he was warned of this before the first game. He didn't on the other hand say this about the rest of the fans.

Indeed. He was referring in part to a number of renowned fans who sit behind the dugout with the sole intention of abusing the manager irrespective of who he is.

He also commented on the fact that he's received huge support from fans. It's the nature of the beast and he will take the rough with the smooth in reflection with our run of results.

He also praised the majority of the fans for backing the team, but said he wasn't bothered about a "few idiots".

As we all know, we do have some vocal members of the crowd at the CG who vent their spleen when things don't go their way; still, we live in a democracy and they've paid their money, so I guess they feel they've the right to criticise?

One of the things of the job of being a Football Manager is that you will never please all the supporters; if you saw Setanta's game last night, the Man U fans were booing their team when one player gave the ball away!!

It's true he was only talking about that small number of abusive people.

However, I'm afraid I find his manner offensive. Having sat through yesterday's embarrassing shambles, to then listen to his 'we're not good enough but don't blame me' approach just makes it worse. OK, we're NOT good enough, and OK you CAN'T really blame him as he's only been in charge a few weeks. but surely a major part of the job is to take responsibility for the things you're responsible for? It seems like he's already trying to distance himself from current failures; his statement that 'what we have to do is finish fourth from bottom' seems like an attempt to dictate how we should judge him; his use of the third person when talking about himself ('Billy Davies always gives 100%', 'Billy Davies' record is second to none'), apart from being pompous and self-serving, is an attempt to position us so that we perceive a difference between his performance and that of the team. That way, he can carry on using the 'not my fault guv' line.

Several people have commented on here that Billy Davies' chief priority is the greater glory of Billy Davies. I think that's true. If that coincides with the greater glory of Nottingham Forest then I have no problem with that. But if it doesn't - and it doesn't right now - then he needs to start making a difference and taking responsibility, because we WILL judge him on results, despite all the management speak bollocks he comes out with. Clearly a lot of people on here are only too used to management speak and I feel insulted that he thinks I or anyone else will be fooled by it.

If that coincides with the greater glory of Nottingham Forest then I have no problem with that. But if it doesn't - and it doesn't right now - then he needs to start making a difference and taking responsibility, because we WILL judge him on results, despite all the management speak b*****ks he comes out with.

Billy certainly likes to blow his own trumpet (phnarr) and there's nothing wrong with a bit of confidence; indeed, I recall a certain former Manager who was not noted for his shy-and-retiring nature.

Still, somebody might want to remind Billy of the old adage in Football "you're only as good as your last game". Whilst confidence bordering on arrogance sometimes can be a trait in a Football Manager (ask Jose Mourinho) Billy needs to be getting better performances out of our team, before telling us how good he is. I've still got confidence in the man though, sometimes a bit of arrogance and swagger can be a good thing!

That's the difference between him and BC - or Mourinho, for that matter.

Edit - before I get ritually disembowelled for that post let me re-phrase it - it's ONE of the differences between BD & BC.

I honestly think that's the most rotten post-match interview I've heard from a Forest manager for some time.

If he continues with this "some players/the team are not up to the job at the moment" approach and insinuating that half of them will be out of the door come the summer when this apparent guaranteed safety is secured, then I will seriously start to question his managerial ability and mental state. Fair enough, try and shake things up when you come into a new job, but guess what Billy - IT'S NOT GETTING RESULTS and the risk of failure is too ridiculously high for you to continue to be so stubborn in your methods.

IMO, a manager should never be criticised for trying something new to rectify a troubled situation. However, sticking with an approach that is clearly not working is unforgivable.

If you keep telling the players they're not good enough, they will start to believe it. This might not be the case if they were more experienced, but as you yourself have said 5 thousand times - they're far from it.

Oh, and frankly I couldn't give two hoots about your "2nd to none" track record. That will not keep us up. The way you manage Nottingham Forest FC for the next 3 months will.

And finally, just cos you're playing a team that has spent some money, does not guarantee defeat...
