Positive Billy

I think it helps. He's positive but realistic at the same time. You can see his atittude beginning to rub off on players. He got Derby up with this attitude. Compare and contrast then to Nigel's post-match interview today

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7979028.stm

where he quite bluntly intimates that his defence are for the chop - when Davies says this he adds a counterpoint regarding the nurturing of the wealth of talent that the club has, of instilling basic common sense in the players and so on. Clough has a good bit of cash, collateral and talent to play with, and he must be sure of safety already to be talking as he is - I'm sure he'll do alright with that club but I'm also sure we've got the best man for the job here right now. If CC had at some point had McLeary as a lone forward, it would not have turned out OK. Davies has the measure of this club and the current situation, and he's got the skills to make the best survival push possible. You only have to look at their focus today when Wilson came off - straight into a tactical reappraisal and a forward looking attitude.

I also like the team - I used to hate it when Kinnear or such shrunk away form an interview, whilst today it was nice to hear from Ned again - Billy obviously had important shit to do. At Forest we like a strong and indentifiable AM, like in the old days. Feels like we've got one at the moment. Desite the current state of the table, we've got financial and regime stability, for the first time since Clarke left.

fantastic post mate i agree with everything you have said these last 2 games for me have just shown the belief our players have got in themselves to do what is needed and it is BD who has given them this belief

Just listening to the Clough Jnr interview and it's bloody brilliant:

"I'm pleased we didn't get the three points because we didn't deserve them"

"we're going to get good players who have a little bit of thought and understanding about the game"

Not that I give two hoots about Derby, but that was a great interview and I would be happy for any Forest manager in the same circumstances to say the same thing. He's clearly decided the Albrechtson is for the chop, and has made it clear that the rest of the defence will be on their way if they don't improve over the remaining matches.

Anyhoo, although Davies has said a few things since he's joined us that have worried me a bit, generally I like his determination and above all his honesty. If he feels a player isn't pulling his weight he will say so, and he'll also praise players when he feels they are putting the effort in to improve. The two instances that spring to mind are McCleary and McGugan, both of whom he has initially criticised but then praised after they have responded positively to his comments.

And, every single weekend I thank my lucky stars I don't have to listen to a dull Calderwood interview :)

I was lucky enough to get a ticket for the directors box on Monday @ the Blunts.

Surprised to see CC there, blowing kissees and making gestures of undying love to Luke from the sidelines, he sat right behind the dugout with Pembo.

My main point is, that I feel that Billy did as much as the players to get the point we deserved.

He was at them all the game, inbetween arguing with the 4th official about the multiball system, which we played to our advantage, got really good when one of the obnoxious ball boys, who'd earlier thrown the ball back at Gunter with venom, and the crowd loved it, tried it again with Lewis, who squared up to him, the ball boy shit himself and took a back seat after that!

To be honest when he was appointed, I was a Billy doubter, but hoped that he'd be the guy we've needed for too long now, but after Monday, I'm converted, he rallied and recognised the fantastic support we had, worked his balls off all the game with instructions encouragement, bollockings etc etc.

Don't underestimate the effort, enthusiasm, passion this guy has, you don't have to be liked to win a game of football, you don't get anywhere being nice, he alone earned his wages.

I was proud yesterday, and believe me the blunts directors were very pissed off yesterday.

Back to the time wasting and multiball job, isn't that what the blunts did when they came to us? or has my memory failed me?

Keep it up Billy, well done yesterday!!
