Pompey Away 30th October

NFFC Johan

Viv Anderson
Me and 5 mates are making a weekend of Pompey away and have been looking at prices of travel/hotels.

Were looking travel to Portsmouth on the Friday 29th and to return on Sunday 31st October and also a hotel or B&B to stay on the Friday and Saturday night's

I fount the National Express costs about £40 each and takes over 7 hours but the train is £80 and takes 4, wondering if anybody know's any cheaper places to look for travel.

Also fount a travelodge at £105 for 2 nights based on 2 or 3 sharing.

Just wondering if any body can recommend anywhere for us to stay and the best way to travel??

Cheers in advance.

Not sure if this is in the right place, if so just move it please :)

Try megabus.com. You can get from London to Portsmouth in an hour and a half for £1 each. If you can get a reasonable price for the train to London then the megabus may save you a few quid.

In terms of travel, I think that's all you can do fella i'm affriad (unless one of you fancies driving).

I booked my train tickets last month (29th-31st), and it cost me £57 then, so not supprised they are that expensive now!!

or you could try getting train tickets nottingham to london and london to pompey seprate as sometimes that saves money. often works when im coming up with my season ticket from southampton

Had a look and I can get a return from Nottingham to London for £15 and then a mega train for like £4 single, only problem is the train from London leaves from Waterloo and the coach has many destinations in London, which one is the closest to Waterloo does anybody know? :/

Just get an all day tube pass (for both Friday/Sat) - you're bound to be near a station. Means you can have a gander about London too. Should set you back about £9.

I had a weekend in portsmouth for a forest game a few years ago. Drove there and stayed in a hotel on the front. Five of us shared two rooms. Enjoyed the whole weekend apart from the match. Plenty to do, nice places to eat and drink.

I've got no record of the name of the hotel so maybe I paid for the petrol and someone else paid for the accomodation. It'll be cold in october so pack plenty of woolies.

The less time in Portsmouth the better, you can trust me on that.

There some places to stay in town, depending where, Fratton, Southsea, or Gunwharf/Harbour.

Not a nice place then? We thought out of all the fixtures in this half of the year it's the best option to make a weekend of it.

I'm planning on going to this one, never been to Fratton Park before so it's another ground to tick off.
