Began watching Forest Focus " fight back " episode , saw the guests and thought " no no no, im not ready for that."
I have avoided all football socials yesterday and that line up feels more of the same. I would have taken a Paul Morley thoughtful perspective boost, an emily positivity rush even a Pete Blackburn prose explosion , but Birtles ! jeesh not sure im ready for that yet.

Wise.

It was a very ill informed preview. Birtles was moaning about Sangare, MGW and NDoye not being used off the bench against Villa and suggesting they should start against Newcastle. Despite the fact that VP made it very clear that they are not fit and were essentially acting as cheerleaders.

I've avoided everything on Social media since Thursday night. It hurt too much and I didn't want to hear any dissection of it.

As soon as Birtles started having a go at not bringing on MGW and Sangare I turned off.

Worth listening to the Jack Colback Forest Focus for an uplift though, avoid the first 5 minutes if you don't want to hear about Thursday night and then go on a great memory trip of that promotion and survival side. Loved that team.

I've avoided them all too. And Birtles just winds me up with his incessant rubbish.

I'm sure he'd have referred to what Clough would have done 25 times and belittled the current team's achievements. Unlike his team we don't have the benefit of the World's most expensive player nor the best (and most expensive) goalkeeper to boot.

Sometimes it is simply best to shrug one's shoulders, say "sod it" and move on, completely obliterating it from your mind.
I do only ever listen to Forest Focus, but give it a miss as soon as that American female student is a guest, and I tend to fast forward when Gary Birtles starts pontificating.
Matt must be praying that forest avoid the drop.
His income will likely be decimated if we do go down.

I’d recommend listening to Forest Focus with Colback-especially if your still feeling a bit down after Thursday. Seemed really down to earth and when he speaks about Cooper and that promotion season it does bring so many happy memories back. He was brilliant for us-slotted in at left back and still not sure how he ended so far up the pitch for the goal at sheff Utd in semi. I found it funny how he said playing at left back he was sometimes a bit bored!! 😁 Great bloke and made a point about talking how good our fans were in that season and generally overall.

I've avoided FFTV for no other reason than Wolfie is a massive c*nt and talks like a wannabe roadman. Innit blud.
The man would shite himself if he met a proper roadman..

I think Matt on FF should try and get Henry Normal as a guest in the close season. A great poet who relates some tremendous stories about standing in the Trent End.

I'll be honest, FF is my go to Forest Podcast but I do give any episode a swerve if Birtles is on. He cannot accept any other opinions aside from his own, which is usually wrong.

I listen to FF but my god Pete Blackburn is an abolsute bore. He thinks he’s far more nuanced than he is. I’ll still listen but sometimes I’ll far forward him

Birtles seems to form his opinions with the absence of commonly known facts most of the time. It just comes across as lazy.

I quite like Birtles when he is not doing that though, and is just talking about what he actually bothered to watch.
Birtles does get things wrong but that’s the point of having opinions. It’s good to have them and get some wrong instead of the void of nothingness and waffle that Pete Blackburn serves up.

Birtles as a commentator is annoying as well. Hes points are right but my god does he dwell on them. It’s like having someone from LTLF commentate on Forest games on a broadcaster when it should be neutral…

Saying that when we beat Liverpool 1-0 that first season I think and Awoniyi scored the winner. BT sport had Fletch and Jenas as commentators 😍😍

Like I say in my original post, I am not bothered about people getting things wrong, it's people getting it wrong because they neglect basic facts - Birtles does that all the time where he seems to not keep up to date with anything.

I agree regards to Blackburn though, I completely zone out when he talks. I also find it really uncomfortable when he constantly gives a speech about his opinion being worthless compared to X panelist they have on.

That’s fair and that is infuriating.

I love Percy and big Kelv as well. Around 2005-2014 Nottingham produces some really decent kids and footballers. Perch, Morgan, McGugan and Big Kelv. Stick Julian Bennett in there. Not world beaters but really solid good pros.
