...that Paul Anderson isn't absolute gash. It may be a confidence thing, but he hasn't brought anything to this team since he moved here and is an absolute shadow of the player when at Swansea.

Majewski is the player that makes this team tick. I cannot fathom why he doesn't start every game. Maj played most home games last season. We won most home games. He didn't start most away games, we lost most away games. WBA our best performance of the season last year? Majewski ran the show.

Tonight showed why he simply must be in this team. We couldn't keep the ball - even goal kicks would come straight back at us. It's been like this for a while now. We must drop Ando and start with Maj.

Cannot disagree with you at all about Majewski.

At some point people will realise that football matches are won less at the front, and more in midfield.

In Majewski we have a player who is several yards ahead of anyone else on the pitch in terms of thought & ball speed.
He will routinely play a deft ball to where a player OUGHT to be. If the wingers/forwards have the same sense of the game, they'll be on the end of it.

In any case, if he plays 10 such balls in a game, we'll get on the end of at least one of them...which should be enough for a goal...

Yes, he's small..yes, he's liable to get clobbered, but ffs if he's not strong enough to play 90 minutes then there's something seriously amiss.

Since his first game in a Forest shirt I've believed that Majewski is the finest midfield talent we've had - and I'll stick my neck out a little and say "in my lifetime"...and I saw McGovern AND Keane wear the Garibaldi red. Raddy is SO fast, SO skilful, and can bamboozle everyone, including the watching crowd with silky ball control and delivery - he needs to play as much as possible, with a little protection from e.g. The Moose, to allow him to - basically - boss the game.

Why he doesn't start & finish routinely baffles me.

But - hey - what do I know about football.... ?! :D

Ando has done nothing to start a game recently, doesn't seem to use his pace to his advantage neither! So frustrating!

+1 to the Raddi love in

+1 to the Raddi love in

I'll also add that for me it is a Radi love in and not an Ando slagging. PA is out of sorts, but we all know the quality is there somewhere.

For now, we've got to be using Radi more. Him and Ramsey in advanced positions could be lethal. At least the 2 of them would know what the other is doing, even if the rest of the team is 10 yards behind.

Just wrote a reply here... deleted it, as I figured out I was just saying exactly the same as Billy is saying every time we lose! :)
f*** it...

Ando was good last season, but this season he's had a very slow start and so have a few others too like Earnshaw, Cohen, Morgan etc.

I agree about Raddy, he should of played tonight as he is one of if not our best midfielder. He scores great goals and his passing is nothing short of magical at times.

Little bit of an over reaction about how good Raddy is though the complaints about Anderson are valid. He was useful last season because his pace pushed defenders back, fearing he'd get behind them. Thus creating more space for us. They've now realised he takes crossing and finishing lessons from Tyson...

How do you fit Ramsey, Majewski and McGugan in a team?

Maybe something like this for Saturday?

Back 5
Ramsey - Cohen
Someone - Majewski - McGugan
Someone

Please convince me that:

a) Billy Davies knows what he's doing because the team he picked last night was never going to have the stomach for a local Derby.
b) We haven't signed Marcus Tudgay and Aaron Ramsey to be used as subs.
c) There is a genuine reason for picking Garath McLeary - on last night's performance he should be playing on the Embankment on a Sunday morning (even Dion Dublin mentioned him!)
d) That Mr Oliver is a qualified referee - I have never seen him have a good game and he denied TWO obvious penalties last night

At least there's a few players up for the role of new scapegoat... maybe people won't unite simply behind one as they have done before...

Funnily enough, after suffering through Forest v the Bin Robbers, I then watched Barcelona v Real Madrid, which I'd recorded.

Who ran the game for Barca? Why, the smallest man on the pitch all 5'5" of Lionel Messi.

Now, I'm not saying for a minute that Raddy is in the same class as Messi, but to echo Flagman's point about Raddy getting kicked about, well yes he will, and so did Messi, but it is what Raddy can bring to the team that we miss when he's not there!

Vision, passing, and - that recent Forest failing - a decent final ball.

We *must* find a place for Raddy in the team; Ando has looked a shadow of the player of recent seasons this year (but he's not alone in that) and we're not scoring enough goals. Bar McGugan's heroics, we'd be in real trouble.

How about this team for Saturday:

Camp
Gunter-Morgan-Chambers-Bertrand
Cohen
Ramsay-Majewski-McGugan
Tudgay-Earnshaw

ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!

Might it just be that people are trying to root out the weak links in the team and think where we need to strengthen in January? It needn't be as sinister as scapegoating every time, although in some/a lot of cases, you're right, it probably is just the blame game.

Might as well ask Robbie really lol

Ando has the skills and pace to take on players, but it seems he hasn't done it at all this season. It's incredibley frustrating as we know he can do it.

Last night called for Raddy to start really. There was sooooo much space in the middle of the park that a player with skill could easily have ran the game. Look how it turned when Ramsey came on. He got the ball and just ran at them.

Hi Long time reader first time poster. Last nights game has pissed me right off so i feel the need to vent my frustration. Paul Anderson is absolute dog sh*t he brings F**k all to the table he creates nothing & dosn't score anywhere near enough. It's about time we gave a chance to some of the academy/reserve team players surely we must have someone who could do more that crap twat. If the academy can't bring players through that are better than or at least on par with Anderson (which can't be that difficult as he's garbage) then we should just save the money, time & effort & F**k the academy off. AAARRGGHHH rant over.

Agree about Ando and Raddy. I doubt we'll see Raddy AND Mcgugan line up together though :( its seems to be one or the other.

I don't see why it couldn't work in a 4-5-1 or with Lewis playing off Tudguy maybe.

Used to love Ando, but feel he has been totally found out, his pace is his only asset which is why he was great in League 1, can't see him getting another contract now. Isn't his current one up at the end of season? You'd think he would knuckle down and try least to get a new one.

I made a comment on the match thread straight after the game about Raddy being the man we were missing, so agree with all the comments above about him. Our midfielders all have certain qualities, but he is the only playmaker we have and last night nobody (except Ramsey when he came on) wanted the ball to their feet.

I believe that Raddy and McGoogle can play in the same team, because Lewis should be playing as a second striker. He isn't a midfielder in the true sense of the word and his real talent is as a goal threat. While we have so many strikers missing I would play him just off the front man and not expect him to do the midfield duties, other than chasing back like any striker would.

Finally to Ando. It's clearly a confidence thing so important that he doesn't become the next scapegoat. For me part of the problem is that he's spending more time going backwards to provide cover for Bertrand than he is looking to get forward and trouble his full back. While we have such options in the middle of the park it may be time to rest him and give him a few cameos from the bench rather than as a regular starter. Time for the coaches to earn their corn and get him back to his best.

I suppose the scouse only wanted £125K for a reason.

Shame as he showed some promise.

I agree fully with the Ando bashing but 1 thing in his favour is that he does put himself about and he does track back and work hard for the team. The worry for me last night was the total ineffectiveness of Cohen, he looked slower than normal, miles off the pace, was never in the game and basically just looked tired. THE BIGGEST thing we missed last night was McKenna, granted he hasn't been as good since he came back from injury last season but on numerous occasions we gifted Leicester the ball in the area between our back 4 and midfield.

A good starting line up for me IF McKenna is fit for Saturday would be

Camp
Gunter Morgan Chambers Bertrand
kenna/moussi
McGugan Ramsey majewski
Dele/Tudgay Earnshaw
The reason I have not stuck any wide players in there is because our best crosses of the ball are the full backs, this formation gives them the freedom to get forward quicker.

100% agree. McGugan isn't a midfielder, he's a striker.

Team for Bristol:

Camp
Gunter Chambers Wes Bertie
Mckenna
Majewski Ramsey Cohen
McGugan
Tudgay

Narrow 4-4-2 ish. McKenna holding. Three central midfielders, with Gunts and Bertie pushing on as much as possible. Majewski and Cohen providing a bit of width when needed. Tudgay up top as an aerial threat. McGugan just behind him in the hole, lashing in long shots.
