Player review - just what have we got???

Forest Squad (so far)
…. A review (or rather a very biased personal opinion which I'm sure will get ridiculed, argued with and probably squirrelised)

Goalkeepers

No. 21 Paul Smith Age 29
Excellent shot stopper and on his day one of the best ‘keepers in the league – but is a confidence player and last season the pressure seemed to get to him (for which the blame can be mainly blamed at the defenders in front of him and the fans who derided his every move). Lee Camp’s arrival should herald a fresh start for Smithy and one which brings him out of his shell.

No. 1 Lee Camp Age 24 (25 in August)
Brash, passionate and able to rouse the whole crowd with last minute heroics, some claim that Camp is the messiah. I have my doubts – he is more error prone than Smith and isn’t as good a technical keeper (see Rich I do read what you write). Having competition for the goalie’s jersey should keep him honest

I think we may need to signa few more players if we're to be ready for that start of the season. I know Camp is superman but what if he gets injured?

His DNA is so strong it's immune to alteration, plus everyone would have a squad of Lee Camps then, Ronaldo wouldn't be able to get a job as a footballer and football would become dull.

Defenders (the weak link???)

No. 2 James Perch Age 23 (24 in September)
Sometime midfielder, sometime RB, sometimes CB … hopefully Billy has identified what he thinks Perchinio’s best position is. Forest through and through the boy can tackle and isn’t afraid to throw himself into the thick of it. I have a lot of time for our very own Pepperami look-a-like and hope that he finds his place under Billy’s regime

No. 3? Joel Lynch Age 21
As long as he’s fully fit and recovered from injury I reckon that Joel Lynch could be one of the stand out players of the upcoming season. An attacking LB with the ability to whip the ball into the box is something Forest’ve been missing for an age. Competition with Bennett should hopefully bring him on defensively and we could have a real bargain on our hands

No. 4 Luke Chambers Age 23 (24 in September)
Apparently a revelation as a CB (round pegs in round holes) Chambers has made a creditable attempt to claim his spot in the heart of defence. Possibly he tries to hard to show his love for the club but I honestly think he is desperate to do well and that Billy will bring the best out of him.

No. 5 Wes Morgan Age 25
Rumours linking him to Pompey are possibly a little premature but this could well be a major season for Wes. I think I’m right in saying he’s Forest’s longest serving player and is another Red through and through. A clear sense of his role and confidence in his fellow defenders should see Wes becoming a star of the Championship

No. 6 Kelvin Wilson Age 23 (24 in September)
Hero to zero in one season, Wilson is prone to silly, sometimes costly, mistakes. I reckon Wilson needs a disciplinarian to keep him focused. After the debacle at the end of last season when he managed to get sent off I’m surprised he’s still in the Garibaldi – but obviously Billy sees a redeeming feature, and hopefully Kelvin is man enough to step up and reward Billy for his faith.

No. 16? Chris Gunter Age 19
An exceptionally talented RB who, from his interviews, is desperate to do well and wants to be here. A future Forest legend in the making (I hope) and good enough to make the transition up to the next level . Forest have bagged a bargain snaffling Gunter and I am certain that, barring injury, we have a star

No. 29 Julian Bennett No. 29
Jules is Forest through and through and will hopefully be back soon to challenge Lynch for the LB slot. What he lacks in talent he makes up for with sheer determination and desire. If he can curb his temper and learn some new tricks from his new rival then I reckon this could be a good year for Bennet.

Where is Diagne?

shame on you.

Ooops - I know absolutely nothing about him tbh, I've only seen his name on the OS .... he could figure in the squad I guess but I would be suprised (cue Diagne starting against Reading)

As for seeing Perchy as a CB ... maybe Billy did that in order to scare the Board into spending Doughty's hard earned cash

Midfielders

No. 7 Paul Anderson Aged 20 (21 in August)
One of the signings I was most pleased with, Ando showed us last season what we had been missing for so long. Fast enough to keep up with Tyson and energetic enough to keep going all match long he offers us a major attacking threat on the wing. Unfortunately he got injured against Direby just when he was hitting form but hopefully this season will see him ready to go and back on song. His return to the team with his arm still in a cast showed a dedication to the cause that has been lacking by some players for far too long

No. 8 Lewis McGugan Aged 20
That he is talented is without doubt but previously his fitness and motivation have given cause for concern. Billy laid down the gauntlet and the reports pre-season suggest that McGoogle has responded. More competition for places should make him strive harder to get into the team and not get complacent.

No. 12 Garath McCleary Aged 22
Plucked from obscurity by Calderwood and thrust into the team McCleary has plenty of tricks and pace which make him a threat to any opposition defence. If he can learn how to consistently deliver that killer ball then maybe our super-sub can claim a place in the starting 11. Until then I reckon that McCleary will be a fringe player

No. 15 Chris Cohen Aged 22
A future Forest captain (provided we can keep hold of him) Cohen was the engine of the team last season and when he didn’t play in central midfield it was noticeable. Full of running and never say die Chris is a fantastic player that epitomises the new Nottingham Forest (even if he does look about 12)

No. 19 Guy Moussi Aged 24
Already a cult figure I hope that The Moose can become Forest’s very own Viera. Strong and able to stamp his authority on the game we have yet to see the best of him, although McKenna’s arrival could see him only playing an understudy role. A season without major injury can only benefit both Forest and the Moose J

No. 18? Paul McKenna Aged 31
Probably Forest’s Captain for the forthcoming season McKenna should hopefully provide us with a solid presence in the centre of the park, able to disrupt the opposition and set attacks in motion. Billy seemed adamant that McKenna should join us having managed him at PNE … so until proven otherwise I reckon we’ve got ourselves a quality player.

No. 20 Aaron Davies Aged 25
Was he bought solely to bring Cohen here? Or on the strength of THAT game. Whatever the reason Davies has failed to produce since arriving at the City Ground. A fringe player at best I would imagine unless Billy has seen something else. I want to be proved wrong (I never want to see a Forest player fail) and hope that Davies pushes himself into the spotlight for all the right reasons

No. ?? Radoslaw Majewski Aged 22
The latest (at the time of writing) Forest signing. Raddy could well be the one that pushes McGoogle for the creative slot. Mixed reports on his past suggest that this lad may need some careful handling if we’re to see the best of him but Billy has already shown with McGugan that he can both encourage and guide potentially troublesome talent

Wow this is reminding me how young our squad is. Take out McKenna and Adebola and this squad has got 5-10 years in them.

That's exactly what I was thinking ... the potential is frightening

Did you not detect the strong sense of sarcasm in my post about him? :D

Pretty good so far mate, will we see the Moose start many games I wonder or will McKenna/Cohen get the nod as BD rates them both so highly.

This is really starting to look quite sexy isn't it.
And we've got buckets of talent in our six strikers as well.
I'm off for a w**k.

I'm scared by all this. Things aren't meant to go well for us.

Looking at all the midfield talent we have, my only question is how are we going to get all of these guys playing time? Especially if we end up playing a 4-3-3.
