Play Offs

Does anyone know if there is any chance at all that McKenna will be fit for the playoffs ?

I know a lot of fans applaud what Billy Davies has done this year, and you can't deny he deserves credit, but he's really starting to get to me with his constant moaning to the media at every opportunity. He seems to have small man syndrome and needs the attention and recognition wherever he goes. This latest stuff with Celtic is just more of the same.

I'm praying we make it to Wembley but not sure if we would be better facing Swansea or Blackpool.

Billy stated,"that if Newcastle were promted" they would need to spend 60 Million to consilidate there survival in the Premiership. Based on King Billys thoughts, how much would Forest need to spend to survive, should they win the play-offs???????

Billy's just worried because of what happened at D*rby. We wouldn't have to spend that much providing he found the right quality, there are some teams in the Prem that really aren't that great. You'd also have to consider how much would have to be held back for the wage bill etc.

The more important question is, if we brought in 8-9 new 'Premiership quality' or potentially Premiership quality players, how long would 'King Billy' take to get them to gel? That is in keeping in mind the question 'how much would he need to keep us up?' you see some people wouldn't mind us going down once if we invested wisely, and also kept stabilty by keeping Davies and most of the worthier players, not to mention there's been talk of parachute payments rising.

I'd like to know what Davies had to spend when he was with D*rby, some critics would say he made some bad choices with the money he did get to spend, therefore being detrimental to getting the right 'team blend'. I'd guess that Billy would want money to burn because he feels that logically there'd be less margin for error, I don't know.

I suppose that's why going up this season is so important because we'd potentially be in a very comfortable position thereafter whichever way you look at things.

...this is of course, if we go up, I won't hold my breath.

have a little bet that McKenna will play at least some part in the playoffs............... as for Billy and his long term future?

1) He still lives in Scotland and spends only 3 days a week down here. Not total commitiment is it?

2) He is in constant confrontation with the powers that be at the club. Not an ideal long term relationship. So don't be surprised to see him go at the end of the season promotion or not.

1) He didn't want o uproot his family whilst his kids were still in school.

2) Most managers are like that (Ferguson etc). Billy just voices it more than most

Bit of insight into the mindset of potential rivals, makes you think playing Swansea would be better seeing as they're at a low ebb having nearly f**ked this up and had a slump in form.

Alan Tate believes Swansea will only have themselves to blame if they do not reach the Championship play-offs.
The Swans fell out of the top six for the first time in four months following Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United, to be replaced by Blackpool.
The Liberty Stadium side now need to win their final game at home to Doncaster to stand any chance of regaining their place, while Ian Holloway's men are up against Bristol City.
Defender Tate, who won the club's player of the year award on Tuesday night, will miss his side's end to the season due to an ankle problem but the defender spoke frankly about the club's recent slump.
"There's no point trying to sugar-coat it, it's our fault it's not in our hands," Tate told Wales Online. "You can understand some fans being a bit doom and gloom because we've been in control for so long.
"We have to rely on others now, but if we miss out we can't say we deserved to be there."
However, he added that whatever the outcome, Swansea have had a good season: "We will still finish higher than we have done for 27 years but of course it's not over yet."

That low-ebb would be massively over-come with the euphoria of now getting in though...

I think we can completely rule McKenna out of the playoffs, as he remains out for Sunday, and having been out for over 2 months by the time the playoffs come round, he would be lacking any match fitness, which it would take at least a few games to recover.

Depends. You can name a lot of subs.

If he's fit enough, he'd be very useful to bring on for the last quarter of an hour if we're holding a lead in a match.

There's two types of match fitness - the physical fitness that players in the McKenna mould don't necessarily need and the mental fitness that players of his experience never lose.

As soon as he tells Billy he's ready, he'll be in the starting line-up. I have a sneaking sus that he'll start the first-leg.

McKenna will be coming of the bench at home with us leading...well, I reckon he will.
