Play Off Uh Oh

Anyone else noticed Sheffield Utd creeping up on the play offs? If it has to be promotion by that route, I'm gunning for the wheels coming off Cardiff. I'd love to see a re-run of us meeting Utd in the play offs, which we would if they were 6th! This time, we'd have the bastards!

Honestly, can you think of a better way to go up than revenge over them?

I was a bit of weary of Middlesborough grabbing that last playoff place so glad they didn't win tonight and Cardiff pulled clear. The Blunts this time would be one team I would be a bit more confident about playing, there quite awful really.

Sorry, but I am the only one who thinks that we completely and utterly lack the bottle to do anything in the play-offs? If we're in the play-offs we will get rammed from more angles than Winnit's secret porn-star sister...

Sheff U in the semis then Fester in the final would be nice. Beating both of course.

refuse to even think about the god awefull invention that is play offs. this squad is miles away from being anywhere near ready for the big boys, west brom and newcastle will have to invest heavily into there squad to step up and look how far we are behind them.

we have a nasty trip away to newcastle to come yet that could end up be very bad.

the one team you dont want in the semi is swansea, when was the lat time forest beat a team 3/4 times in a season?

Really is anyone suprised? I'm not in the slightest. Look back at Billy Davies's teams, they've all powered ahead during the season, yet stumble over the line. Frankly i'm quite pleased, west brom are a better prepared team than us and have the experience and know how to get up. Whatever we can say about this season is its been a success and if we don't get promoted via the play off, we will play the sheep again next season.
I'm looking to the play offs now and can't wait for the final. A piss up in london and open house in brentwood :)

Coventry aren't to far away either, whoever we play we would have to go for a 0-0 draw away and get a 1-0/2-0 win at home. I wouldn't like to play Cardiff in the semi's. Wouldn't mind Coventry, Swansea or Sheffield Utd forgeting what happened a few years back I think we could easily beat them over 2 legs. If we get to the final I think we'll win. I'd like to play Swansea in the final as we have done the double over them and I think a 1-0 win would probably be the case. IMO it is all the owners fault for us not being in the auto-promotion race anymore as they didn't wrap up the shorey deal or get a decent LB to fill in as we are extremely weak down the left and now Perch is injured were having to play a CB at LB. This could cause failing to reach the prem.

Sorry but I couldn't deal with meeting Sheff utd in the playoffs. Give me Swansea ahead of them any day. They struggle to score and we might get our first draw away from home in a long time. Then Leicester in the final. What a finale!

Can you honestly see that happening now though? I've stayed positive up until now but eight points is, as I see it, too much ground to make up in nine games.

Its an ever bigger ask now but never say never.

Yeah I have to say, at this moment in time im a lot more relaxed about them. I suppose because if the worst does happen and we get dicked in the semis again, this season would still have been a sucess, rather than the total failure it was 3 years ago.

That said I reserve the right to absolutey brick it, as soon as our place is confirmed!

Thanks for that, think I would rather play at home first tbh get a couple of goals ahead.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!

We need to be in form by the time they come around. Doncaster are the only side in recent times I can remember winning the playoffs when going into them horribly out of form.

We have never won a playoff game at home, and we've had a 2 goals lead 3 times in semis and always gone on to lose.

In our current form id much prefer to get the away leg done first, and to be quite honest, id be okay with being only a goal behind after the first leg (of course being 5 up would be preferable :D).

I honestly and truthfully think I would feel more comfortable going into the second leg a goal down with home advantage, than I would going into it away with a goal advantage, as strange as that might sound.

I disagree EmJay; we are a different side now and I think we could take a lead at home then go to the second leg and defend like our lives depended on it in the second leg to preserve the lead.

If any manager has the know how and tactical nous to steer us through, it's Billy and that reason alone would give me confidence. Hart and Calderwood were both clueless, hence us squandering comprehensive leads both times.

we have just lost 6 away games on the bounce and are starting to crumble under the pressure, seems like the same old forest to me.

Sadly I think West Brom are a tad too good to implode in the same manner that Carlisle and Doncaster did. Plus we don't look like picking up a run of form anytime soon.

That said I'm not really downhearted at the prospect of the playoffs, I'd have been delighted to finish in the top 10 at the start of the season. It's quite unfortunate that our flirtations at the top of the table have left many losing sight of just how far we've come in a short space of time. Listening to some people last night you'd have thought we were still languishing in League One obscurity.

you could also take the league one table and say its not to late for sheff utd to catch us and us to drop out of the play offs

We won't make the play offs. Next two games are Donny and Cardiff away. Our current away form is awful. 8th place at best for us. Good luck in the play offs!

Billy's interview after the match even reminded me of Calderwood's interviews before we went up. Same format. Chipperfield asked him to admit we weren't going up 2nd, Calderwood kept insisting he was right. He was.
