Good enough for Championship, not for Premier League (plus his Watford transfer was agreed under the previous manager).
There’s not many transfers at Watford that aren’t agreed under a previous manager or 6! Our manager chaos of last season is standard for them.

Zinc played his part in our promotion, but he was no way premier league level. You’ve got to be stand out in the championship to even have a chance in the prem. Was about the angriest I saw cooper when zinc missed a sitter at boro to equalise - think he hooked him straight after.

They change managers almost as much as boxers so apparently you're never more than six feet from a former Watford manager.... Didn't they get promoted one year with about 3/4 managers?

EM isn't that bad - last season was clearly the exception and showed that hiring bad managers didn't get very far, although the first sacking was because of Nuno's antics. Though quite a lot of managers haven't lasted a season or much more (Lamouchi completed a season and then a few matches, Hughton got about a year, as did Karanka although he quit) it's been hard to argue against sacking any of them when they actually were. Cooper, Nuno all got backing for as long as it was working on or off the pitch and we'll probably expect the same with Glasner. If it's not working and sacking the manager is the answer you need to be able to.

As for Zinc, yes that's what I was implying - Watford clearly didn't see him as a key first team player and that's why they let him leave. I think when Fulham were doing the yo-yo sketch a few years back they had basically 2 sets of players and loaned them out, and then we brought in players who were clearly there in the event of relegation when we first went up. I also seem to recall Henri Lansbury had managed to get 2/3 promotions on loan to Championship clubs from Arsenal before he broke the cycle by joining us... There are quite a few players in that box but it's interesting how he hasn't tried to do it again.

Good player for where we were at the time, but even then he was incredibly frustrating. Bad decision making in the final third, missing good chances - that one against Liverpool in the cup stands out but there were plenty more - and he would not have been good enough. I think before Grabban got injured there was even some people calling for him to be dropped and play Grabban in the 10. But back in that first season as a cheap option off the bench, he might have been more use than some of the players we signed that first season back. But it all worked out in the end.

It's easy to forget that Zinc missed an absolute sitter in the first leg v Sheff Utd - thankfully Colback was following in and Ben Osborn had given up on it.

Was definitely a fan of his - that goal v Reading away was a beauty - but he wasn't clinical enough for the top level.
