I would love to see the World Cup in Nottingham, it will be a once in a lifetime experience for us all and with a new state of the art stadium we would be a very tempting takeover option for the next billionaire to walk into the English game. We could never redevelop the City Ground to Fifa standards, so the best option must be this.

Why would we want a new stadium anyway, all the history has happened at the CG, it's in a good place: not too far from town, and easy to get to. Anyway, if we stuggle to fill the 30K stadium we already have, what about a 50K stadium, we have to think about after the world cup, after all it will be a stadium we have to keep and use for a long time to come....

Yet again! We're only just up from the third tier of English football. Of course we're struggling to fill our present ground. What does anyone expect? We need success, then people will come back to support the club. It will seem like better value when we're back in the Prem. Make the wrong decision - keep a small ground, get promoted and have to turn people away or - get a larger ground and don't turn people away. I know what I'd like to do. It seems that we can't redevelop the CG to the required standard, so what do we do? Stay and fester as a second class club? It's not that long ago that we took 20,000 to an away match in Europe (Munich). Throughout recent history, we have taken 12,500 to places like Manure, Arse and Newcastle. There IS a big club here - itching to get out. Ambition!

We struggle to fill the 30K stadium because the actual capacity of the CG is little more than 28,500 in any fixture that is otherwise likely to attract 30K.

Indeed. Nottingham getting to even be part of the 2018 bid is dealt a pretty big blow by the infighting between the councils.

Nottingham City Council in being incompetent and not too well versed with reality shocker.

That's what the City Council say, the County Council has already questioned this. More than likely the City counsellors are saying this because they've an interest in a massive new building project with its wheels greased by back handers. I don't believe for a moment its being done for us, its being done because some fat cats somewhere will make money out of it.

Essentially, the City Ground heritage will cost to keep, but the powers that be aren't prepared to pay for that, they want the cheap option. What does that tell you about their motives?

A ground In Bilborough  would be great for Forest Fans, but not so great for away fans,as there is a slightly more chance of them getting decked (by the locals). got family round there, but,
As Alan Partridge says ' i'm sorry about the smell of urine, but there really is nothing else to do round here'

I suspect Manchester will get to host the 2018 World Cup.

......a ground in Bilborough is not as far-fetched as you may think.

A long-time city councillor friend of mine informed me at least a couple of years ago that the council had actually identified a number of city-based locations as possible options for a new Forest stadium/potential World Cup venue:

The open land to the north of the Harvey Haddon sports centre on Wigman Road.

Land off Greenwood Road, Sneinton.

City council-owned brownfield land just off Colwick Loop Road, close to Victoria Retail Park.

So-called 'Eastside Regeneration' land lying to the west of Manvers Street (which has since been recently sold-off by the council to a Guernsey-based company).

Seeing England at the CG would be nice, but very unlikely.

It would be unlikely if we built a new ground that England would even play in it, so CG all the way.
