Perchy Close to retuning

Just another roll of the Dyche
Shouldn't he have done that on September 30th?

First Team Squad
I'm Thrilled....Not

He should only ever be used as backup in a right back position, never ever in midfield.

Some people like some don't and i'm firmly in the Don'ts!!!!

He's not though, is he.

Perch is distinctly average. When CC ditched his first choice XI status in league one we went on a great run and got promoted. We he then accommodated him again last year it weakened our side.

Perch is a squad player and should be treated as. He is not good enough for our starting XI.

This news worries me as it sounds like Billy is ALSO going to accommodate him when he is fit. This will disrupt our team and make us less effective and weaker as a result. His versatility and lack of set position means that there are better overall players in the squad who are natural in the positions he can play in. Slotting him in will create a huge imbalance.

I don't think he's amazing or anything, but he's better than 'distinctly average'. He always gives his all and has some footballing ability to boot, he's probably my favourite player at Forest if I'm honest.

He's exactly the type of player you need either in the team or on the bench every week, as he can comfortably play in 3 or 4 positions and do a good job. When he returns I reckon he could slot in at right back, with Gunter going to left back. Gunter can play there pretty easily so that's what I hope will happen, would mean that we don't have a makeshift back four every week.

Perch creates imbalance to a side. It's that simple..... Unfortunate as he's okay, but he's not good enough to put into our starting XI.

Put him at right back and you force a right footer doing a good job to left back..... IMBALANCE......

At least Cohen is left footed and getting better at left back with every game. Or get Lynch back in who was showing promise, getting forward and setting up goals.

Sorry but we have better players for the positions he plays.....

Gunter is ambidextrous (or whatever the foot equivalent is...)

I rate Perch at right back and he will do well once he is given a position to stick with. Gunter is a quality player who adapts well to playing at left back. However I would be more worried about the fact that it says BD plans to utilise Gunter further forward, that would cause imbalance in my view.

3 center backs with perch the right of the three?

Good news, Perch is a great asset to our squad. He's probably a victim of his own versatility and its unclear what his best position is. But you know what you'l get from him and thats a 100% committed and energetic performance as well as the occaisional important goal.

Granted he probably wont walk straight back in the side but he offers tremendous cover and competition for places. He's never been the most exciting player to watch and a lot of the work he does goes unaprieciated by the fans. The stick he gets is pretty harsh in my oppinion, what he offers is just as important to winning games as the creative spark of the more glamourous players.

The fact that he has now played under 3 different managers and all of them have deemed him to be an important part of the squad tells you everything you need to know about his value.

If BD was planning up using three centre backs and (urgh) wing-backs, I think we'd probably have done it by now...using Wilson as the third centre back.

Still at least it does give us another option to change to during a game. We now have the players that can easily adapt to 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-5-1 or 5-3-2 with minimal substitutions.

Gunter can play at left back. It wouldn't create any imbalance at all...

I'd rather have a Perch/Gunter combo than a Gunter/Lynch or Gunter/Cohen combo.

Perchy IMHO is really good at closing the opposition and denying them space. There have been times when we have seemed to relinquish control of midfield this season - usually later in the match and this has led to unnecessary nail-biting. I think Perchy can do a job to stop this happening.

It's usually to try and get back the ball he's given away for the millionth time!

perch is a decent no-thrills player and does a steady job , not sure if he merits a first team starting place but is certainly a good option from the bench due to his versatility, now he's close to coming back does this mean we won't be bringing anyone in ?

If Perch was left to play his natural central midfield role for a whole season, he'd be a perfectly good player.
