Penalty Kicks

So, there is a fair chance that the game on Tuesday could come down to penalties. I really dread the possibility but as it is a very real one, who would folks like to see take them?

I would go with; Blackstock, Raddy, Lewis / Kenna (depending who is on the pitch), Cohen and Earnie in that order.

Not Cohen. Boyd. Contrary to yesterday's two excellent efforts, Chris Cohen's shooting is rubbish!

Perch scored against Yeovil from the spot, so maybe he'd take one. Hopefully we won't have to find out.

To be fair, he has scored several "spectacular / very good" goals for Forest e.g. yesterday, v QPR, v WBA, v Derby in the cup last year, v Boro, etc. He does not get too many from inside the 6 yard box but as this is from 12 yards I think he would be ok.

I have a horrible feeling that Tuesday will go all the way down to penalties. The candidates for taking them would be (depending who is on the pitch): Blackstock, Earnshaw, Garner, Tyson, Moussi, Perch, Boyd and Gunter.

If it does go to penalties with Camp in goal we would stand a decent chance.

I think Wes and Wilson would take good penalties.

Boyd would be one of my top five, definitely. I'm pretty sure he took them for Peterborough.

Blackstock, Boyd, Earnshaw, Perch, McKenna, McGugan, Raddy, Gunter, Morgan, Wilson, Moussi

I forgot Raddy, yes he should be in there. Wes may have scored that pile driver against Palace but not sure whether he would have the composure to take a penalty well. I don't think I've ever seen Wilson shoot so unsure about him, he would be composed enough though.

Tyson has taken penalties before and always scored them I think. He certainly put the one against Derby away well last season. McGugan is another one, he has the technique, confidence and composure to score. So really we are well off in this department.

Personally I don't know why everyone wants Earnshaw to take one due to the fact he has missed every penalty he has taken this season and they were under much less pressure.

It all depends who's on the pitch by the time 120 minutes have been completed. I presume Dexter would stay on, and after his efforts this season from the spot, he's a definite. So:

Definites, if they're on the pitch:

Dexter Blackstock
George Boyd
Lewis McGugan
Raddy Majewski
Joe Garner
Paul Anderson

Maybes:

David McGoldrick
Chris Cohen
Paul McKenna
Guy Moussi
Chris Gunter
Nathan Tyson

No-nos:

Robert Earnshaw
Dele Adebola
Wes Morgan
Kelvin Wilson
Lee Camp

Obviously, everyone would have to take a penalty if it went the distance. I expect our main subsitutes will be the likes of Garner, McGoldrick and Tyson if the game goes the distance.

I really, really, really don't want to find out the answer of this.

Being 1 down from the first leg, would u take peno's now? I think i would tbh!

After that freak Adam has scored i would expect Campy to save at least two from the 5.

Even allowing Earnie to do his fave peno trick, we can then go on to win the shootout 4-3.

Simples!

I think it all depends on the night, in those circumstances it becomes a matter of who is brave enough and confident enough to take one.

As the great Stuart Pearce said, you should know your penalty takers long before it comes to any shootout. That way, you don't get people like David Batty, Gareth Southgate and Paul Ince taking them when they've never taken one in their life.

Billy is meticulous about preparation and as such will have players in his mind to take penalties should we need them. I bet we have been practicing them in training as well.

Raddy won't be on the pitch to take a penalty. If he tires after 60/70 minutes, how would he last 120!

This talk of penalties is making me feel nervous.

But I'd choose:

1. Blackstock
2. Earnshaw
3. McGugan
4. McKenna
5. Anderson/Boyd/Moussi

From a previous thread:

As long as someone, publicly, kicks Earnshaw's arse (preferably in front of the Trent End) and tells him, pointedly, not to do that ****wit, wannabe, stuttering runup, and instead just score the ****ing thing properly like everyone else does, then fine, otherwise.....

I recall Cloughie emerging from the tunnel one afternoon with what was purported to be Ian Wallace's contract, and very demonstratively tore it up in front of him after a particularly shocking miss following a series of shocking misses....

I agree, Cohen's got a pretty good dig on him. It's the simple, side footed, close range finishes he's rubbish at. He really should shoot more from 20/25 yards as he's probably our most consistent shooter from that range.
