Paul Smith

Nick.

Once known as Nick.Doyle.nffc on 'ere.
Sounded like he had a very good game today :)
I would like to see him back as Number 1!

It did sound like he had a decent game, even though he had a couple of moments but did pull off a couple of cracking saves in the match.

Apparently Turner has a broken toe, so maybe we'll see Smithy for a while yet...

Turner' had a lot of bad luck, hampering his form ! I found it strange he was included against Brizzle after just recovering from a virus ! Yep, did admirably today and deserves to keep his spot !

Does anyone think it's possible we can ALL get behind him and the rest of what's left of our side for the final games? We as fans have to drop the ironic cheers when he comes for a cross and the high level muttering when he spoons it into the main stand (better the main stand then risking a clanger).

He's our keeper, he's our best available keeper and getting at him will surely be self destructive.

Smith also did pretty well upon his return to the side after Camp's loan expired , just that he reverted back to his hesitant ways a few games later.

Just hope he can make it through the season without any major costly blunders.

Paul Smith is a quality shot-stopper who, sadly lacks the ability to command his area, a deficiency that is highlighted a little too often for some fans.

Still out number one though!

No, I don't think that's possible, sadly.

Unforunately, I think you may be right.

More likely they'll stand idly by and gleefully anticipate his next slight imperfection...

When the odds were against us, Paul Smith kept us a clean sheet and helped to secure a point.

Give the guy credit and support.

Exactly. "Smudge" is confidence player, the more he has, the better he plays.

Next saturday, we all need to cheer like mad when his name is read out (as I reckon he will be in goal next week!)

Shock horror - Paul Smith played a whole game without scoring any own goals, or losing command of his area - this must be the first time ever!!!

I was worried today that with a keeper who doesn't let balls just bounce through his six-yard box, or even charge out of goal and get nowhere near the ball, that we'd be in real trouble.

I'm so glad Turner was injured for today. The break may have given Smith a kick up the backside, but Turner is a liability compared to Smith, and I feel so much more comfortable with him in goal. Shame we're back to having no cover, but we haven't needed it all season, so there's no reason we would now.

I'm not his biggest fan, but fair play to Paul Smith today, he was fantastic. A clean sheet, a couple of good saves, and remarkably he commanded his penalty area very well. He came and got everything he could, more than he usually does, which instantly relieved the pressure on the defence.

The last time he was given a start after a spell on the bench was at Man City and he had a great game then, perhaps we need to see some squad rotation between the sticks!

Smith was excellent today, caught shit loads of crosses under pressure.

His save right at the end was excellent too, did exceptionally well to hold onto it.

Turner was at fault for both of Bristol City's goals on Saturday, yet would receive warm gestures from the crowd for simply bowling out a 5 yard throw just because his name isn't Paul Smith.

It's ridiculous and frankly embarrassing that Smith should be treated in the way he is.

Oh come off it Al, if Smith played like he did today there wouldn't be any problems.

But he doesn't.

Personally I'm happy that Smudge will be our keeper for the run-in, and hope that he is still a Forest player next season

Forest fans have always had to have a scapegoat, Smith is just the latest.
