So you are being sincere in criticising Paul Smith for something that hasn't even happened?
I despair sometimes, I really do.

Can we stop the this debate already?

I am sick of it now. The forum is pretty much divided on this. I for one think Smith is a decent keeper he has errors in his game but they are not as major as people make out. Camp is also a decent keeper it's just that he does all the things that Smith doesn't do therefore people like him more.

I think Smith is a better keeper based on shot stopping and the fact I don't expect him to race out 10 yards off his line for a cross. He does have occassions where he doesn't come when he should but it doesn't cost us goals which I think is a major factor.

However I have mentioned this many occassions with plenty more examples and statistics. I don't want to find and go over those again.

Can we just have one thread we stick too?

Agreed.

In any case, it was Franz Carr's fault for pissing about with the ball to long and not getting a decent cross in.

To stop the debate, stop replying to the bait. :)

In all seriousness though, it's never going to end. Goalkeepers have differnet styles of keeping. Smithers is more defensive, so I'm more comfortable with it than a keeper in the Camp, Grobbelaar, Gomes 'attack the cross and all in the way' style.

Other people prefer the latter.

We'll never agree - in a similar way to the fact we'll never have someone who's true class between the sticks until we're in the Prem and can afford to pay for it. :(

spot on, couldn't agree more etc ;D

Surely the tinternet is the place to whinge and whine about forest players not the CG - it often becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy by ruining the players confidence

If you go back through the start of the season, a lot of our downfall was our inability to defend set pieces.

This changed for a period of time when Camp was in goal.

Its changed back again now, and last weekend BD let fly with venting his anger at how we are unable to defend set pieces.

The common link to the failure is not CC, and its not BD..............its a certain Paul Smith.

Deny it as much as you want, but he is the weak link and everyone in the league knows this now, including our defenders...................he got away with it in L1, but in this league its highly exposed his weakness.

No it didn't! We still conceded plenty of goals from crosses into the box, it's the full backs that are the problem not either of the goalkeepers we've had between the sticks. We let far too many crosses into the box and the main cause of that is the full backs.

When I first read JWJW's post, I thought he was taking the piss.
