Paul Smith......

...is OVER-rated.
Smith OUT!
He is the reason we cant defend set pieces, he is the reasondireby can pile numbers into the box because his distribution if he does miraculously catch the cross is more likely to find row z than start a counter attack. He is the reason we are messing about near the bottom - look how well we were doing with Lee Camp in the net!
With Smith in goal until the rest of the season we WILL struggle, and he might even cost us championship status. Get a proper keeper in NOW before its too late!!

I welcome your constructive abuse

I actually thought this was tongue in cheek the first time I read it.

Re: Pau Smith......

The problem now is that every single minute little problem is being scrutinised and exaggerated. The fact is he hasn't cost us a goal for a long time and generally makes up for his mistakes. Can't say the same for most on this current Forest side.

Well if only someone had mentioned this before or made a thread on it somewhere ...

::)

Maybe we need a thread on Commons and one about Clough too!

Smith is the least of our worries, I really wish that some of these anti-smith types would let me know what goals smith has been directly responsible for us conceeding!?!?!

Camp is no better than Smith, for reasons why we are where look up; Luke Chambers, Kelvin Wilson, Jeol Lynch, Billy Davies, Mark Arthur, Nigel Doughty and January transfer window.

all much more to blame than PauL Smith.

Re: Pau Smith......

If the rest of the team were as good at their jobs as Smith is his, we would be nowhere near the bottom of the league.

The fact that he's being singled out makes me wonder if you even watched yesterdays game or just watched the highlights.

I also wonder what you're talking about with the distribution comment. Smith distributed quickly and effectively yesterday. He looked short EVERY time he had the ball, he rolled it out, he kicked well and he even threw the ball, setting up an attack that we should have scored from.

And I'm concerned about this Camp business, our resurgent form coincided with Smith's return to the team. We were still in the relegation zone with Camp between the sticks.

Thought Smith looked better than Bywater. Unfortunately we gave Bywater very little to do.

True, we would still be in leabue 1...
Our resurgent form was wholly due to a change in manager, with camp in goal we got good results against actual football teams, and the defence didn't look quite so brittle as the likes of wilson do with smith in goal.

Re: Pau Smith......

Smith has only played 3 games more than Camp this season (they both have 4 clean sheets) If your planning on blaming 1 player i suggest you find someone else, the keeper is only as good as the players in front of him it's far too easy to blame him as he is the last line of defence.

We had 7 shots yesterday and only 1 goal (and 1 other shot on target) derby had 9 shots with 4 on target so in theory Smith had just a good a game as Bywater with 1 save each.

What a ridiculous assertion.

If the resurgent form was the change in manager, why were we whipped yesterday by Derby and their non-league manager for the second time in as many weeks?

Derby also have new manager syndrome in fairness. Plus they have better players. For example the goalkeeper. How can you possibly claim that the good form was due to Smith and not the new manager, its absurd. He played extremely well against Man City then got gradually worse..

Oh come on Rich. You know the answer to that - Our team of worldbeaters is always being let down by the shittest goalkeeper in professional football.

Even when he plays well he decides to throw the ball in his own net as he is concerned that people will have nothing to moan about if he has a good game.

Sorry, what is that supposed to prove?
He looked promising 4 years ago, good for him...

So you know more about goalkeeping than Ray Clemence?

I don't think you do.

I think that Smith played with confidence at Southampton, and the constant berating of him has started to really chip away at that,

The fact is, if our strikers were as good at scoring goals as he is at keeping goal, we'd be at the other end of the table.

Re: Pau Smith......

Camp gave the defence some much needed confidence!!!! whereas the defence has no confidence in smith and he has no confidence in himself or the defence.
