PAUL Anderson believes he has been playing some of the best football of his career – but not getting his just rewards.

The Nottingham Forest winger has made 19 appearances this season although he has found the back of the net only once, in the 2-1 defeat at Portsmouth.

But the 22-year-old has vowed to keep doing what he has been all season as it will help in the push for the play-offs.

Anderson said: "I feel like I have been playing some of the best football I have played but not really getting the rewards for it.


"I feel like I should have had five or six goals, whereas I am stuck on one.

"Goalkeepers have made good saves, I have been a little unlucky at times, but in a different season I could have been up there with a few goals. But I have to keep going, I am playing well at the end of the day and the goals will come.

"I have to keep working hard, doing my defensive duties that I feel I am doing well and take my chances when they come."

Anderson joined Forest on a season-long loan from Liverpool in June 2008 and made his switch permanent in the summer of last year.

And with a hectic Christmas period on the horizon, he is eyeing a place in the top six by early January.

The 22-year-old midfielder said: "It is a great period because you can pick up nine or 12 points within a week and it can change everything.

"But fatigue comes into it and it is about using the squad well.

"It is not a massive squad but it is a strong squad and coming into January, it will give us a good option to then go and strengthen the squad with a couple more players to be in a stronger position."

If thats his best then get rid. Has been very poor this season

I can never be bothered to read the NEP Forest articles. They really write utter tosh.
 
He's 22 and we did see his potential when he was on loan from Liverpool. I think he'll turn it around.
 
With the Evening Post you have to remember what kind of newspaper it is. It's a daily local paper and so they have to find something to fill the pages with when there's nothing big going on in the sports scene, even if it is just re-hashed and predictable interviews with managers, players, whatever.
 
He's been awful ever since he's bin here in my opinion
 
If he scored a few of them 1 on 1's and could float a few more crosses id agree with him. But there's still more to come from him
 
I think he is!! I popped round his the other night and played him eight times and couldn't even score against him. It's that new controller he's bought!!
 
ronaldo was crap in his first few seasons with man utd, so yeah he's going to be magnificent very soon
 
I had to laugh when I read this article! I'm slightly worried though that he thinks he's playing the best football he's ever played :S
 
He needs to shut up and actually concentrate on his football two retarded interviews that he has given this season

Been quite poor this season and has looked a shadow of the player we saw the first half of last season. Like has been said above, I hope he turns it around, great winger on his day.

I think McLeary has more ptoential. Anderson is more useful now but at least McLeary has shown at times that he can beat a player, cross and find a red shirt and be able to run more than 10 yards without falling down.
