Pablo Maffeo

Honestly I think he's just a good full back. We think he's a better left back currently because that's where he's played all season, but towards the end of 23/24 he won player of the month 3 months running at right back. Basically very similar to Aina, who last summer everyone said was a better left back than right back. But that's just where he played in 23/24. Now no one would say that.

More chance of Pablo Theroofoff. And he’s signing for Bournemouth

Looks like this is true. According to Matteo Moretto. Forest are pushing to get this deal done. Negotiations advancing.
We actually get a Back up for Aina.

At the risk of being data-obsessed, to the detriment of anything else, I'm not all that enamoured with this one. Not in the top 10 right backs in Spain currently. Why is that a current topic on which so much analysis has been done? Because of TAA moving to RM. Anyway, this guy appears to be a squad filler and therefore getting him at a reasonable price is paramount.

Based on what data would be my response there - it's pretty clear from his stats he can defend, but he doesn't seem to be the most progressive and he's not tall enough to dominate in the air for example. I suppose it's about expectations - he's not going to be the perfectly rounded full back, but if argue we have that...

Apparently we've bid 5m; if he's defensively sound backup on the right, where we have two outstanding defenders at the level we are at, I'm very happy. Save Aina's legs when leading and shutting up shop and buy a more progressive left footed left back.

Sold!

Amid reports Forest are keen on Pablo Maffeo, the Mallorca right-back is said to be facing a ‘dilemma’. According to Spanish publication AS, the 27-year-old accepts it is time for ‘a change’ but he would prefer to stay in his Spanish homeland.

The problem for Maffeo is it will ‘not be easy’ to find a La Liga team willing to pay the reported €10 million (£8.6m) Mallorca want for him. That could put the Reds in a strong position - if they are willing to meet such a fee - but the player seems to be left weighing up what he considers to be best for his career.

He clearly doesn’t know Nottingham has a beach

More chance of Dominic Matteo

Hmmm. I saw him attempt to play eight games for the VfB before being loaned out. i.e. bombed out because he was frankly rubbish.

I’d have done a better job, and I’m not kidding.

Alternated between couldn’t be arsed and couldn’t be bothered; I was not impressed and I’d keep well away from him, there are better potential signings at full back than this absolute waste of space.

Nothing seemed to happen on this anyway.

Having read that from somebody's who's watched him first hand, It's a massive no from me as well.

Some Highlights from this season. Looks composed on the ball. A good dribbler, seems pretty quick and has a decent cross on him. Can see why Forest's recruitment team has picked him out.

Dare I say it the highlights make him look like an Aina clone
