A fairly recognizable name in these parts but I know little about him cos I have no interest in Ipswich Town. According to their web site, he's 21, capped by Ireland at U21 level and a product of their academy. No starts this season after regular appearances for three seasons under Magilton. If your face doesn't fit with Keano, you don't get a game.

Don't really know anything about this guy, if he defensive? is he offensive? CM10 might have something about him, can anybody post the stats CM10 has for him, might give us a rough idea of what sort of player he is.

If cardiff have been linked with him he can't be bad. Their midfield was excellent. If Roy Keane has left him out of the side thats an excellent endorsment if you ask me. Being as he's took a team of playoff contenders to the bottom of the league.

Not sure we need another central midfielder but quality players on the cheap are always welcome wherever they play.

Wikipedia claims we tried to sign him back in 2004!
He's scored 5 goals in 13 for Irelands under 21s....

Interesting suggestion/link into the trees.

We need a proper left sided midfielder.

I actually emailed Mark Arthur (honestly) in 2004/5 time about this player and I had a response back from the scouts at the time. I saw this lad play as a youth against Brentwood in some pre-season and he was awesome as a youngster. Not followed him much since, but I know he was a hot prospect...

Would be a good signing :)

He's a left footed central midfielder, not a winger.

I've always thought he was a good player, good left peg, good passer and he was by far and away Ipswich's best player when they played at Forest last year. Still a young lad as well.

He can likely also play in the left and be an alternative left sided midfielder, if his passing/crossing is good , why not ? Look at Woan , i wouldn't consider him a winger but he has a great left foot and plays on the left.

Well, I suppose he might be able to play there, he just hasn't done for Ipswich.

I'd certainly consider Woan a 'winger' as well, he'd have been abysmal in the middle.

Ran the show at the city ground last year, would be a quality signing and certainly a traditional 'forest type' footballer

he's a very good player and i've been surprised he hasn't been a regular this season , reminds me a bit of steve gerrard in physique & style BUT obviously nowhere near the same class , would be a decent signing for us though particularly being still young as well .

I considered putting a thread about him on here speculatively when he was transfer listed first but thought better of it at the time. He's a fantastic player and was an everpresent under Magilton who likes his proper football players. Can pass, can dribble and has a great engine. Not a regular goal scorer really but has played well over 100 times for Ipswich and is only 21. Their academy has done alright in recent years too so this looks like another gem.

We all know Roy Keane is a useless manager too and has changed a potential promotion team into relegation fighters and one of the key reasons I think is dropping the player who made their midfield tick. He mainly plays in the middle but is comfortable out wide so would be a good signing for us I think and shouldn't cost too much being transfer listed and not being played. Best to get in there before they change manager and the new man realises what a good player he has on his hands.

Great summary. Could not agree more.

I just had a quick looks round a few Ipswich sites and one summary describes him as "A young Irish Steven Gerrard"! Whilst he's nowhere near the quality it's not too far away in terms of player likeness. There's also a user on one of their forums called "GarvanIsGod". ;D

That's exactly what I thought. Keane can't have too much time left in that job.

He was back in the Ipswich starting eleven yesterday..

...and he ran the show. He's still listed though so still a good chance he'll be leaving, would really like to see him here. There was one moment when he had a shot from around the penalty spot and the keeper palmed it away and he was first to it near to going for a throw despite there being a box full of players who could have also gone. Determination like that along with the ability he has is a very rare thing, especially at this level.
