Out of contract Players.....who Forest could get

normored

A. Trialist
We've all seen the squad numbers released today and I'm sure it isn't just me who thinks the squad is on the somewhat small side. We obviously need to make some additions to the squad, but is it worth spending massive money when the basis of a strong side has already been installed?

Of the 19 players who have been allocated numbers we have:

- 2 Goalkeepers: Camp and Smith
- 5 Defenders: Wilson, Morgan, Chambers, Bennett (injured) Perch (Midfielder last season)
- 7 Midfielders: Moussi, McGugan, Thornhill, Davies, Anderson, Cohen, McCleary
- 5 Strikers: Adebola, Tyson, Earnshaw, McGoldrick, Garner

I know we're more than likely adding Mckenna to the squad so that's 20 players, but having 4 fit defenders on the books isn't anyway to start to a season is it?

And if Billy wants 2 players for each position, then he needs to get signing. Obviously Defence is a prime area but Billy did want 6 strikers so were one short up there and we have a need for one more winger in my eyes.

So I've been doing some searching and found a bunch of players who are free agents who we could sign up or at least give trials to help beef out the squad. Some of these have been mentioned before, some are long shots and some are just ridiculous but some must be worth it.

If Billy is wanting young players then he could pick from:

Paul Rodgers 19 Right Back released by Arsenal
Ashley Miller 19 Right Back released by West Ham
Godwin Antwi 21 Centre Back released by Liverpool
Amaury Bischoff 22 Centre Midfielder released by Arsenal
Dean Bowditch 23 Striker released by Ipswich - very good striker and would be ideal 6the striker material
Richard Duffy 23 Right Back released by Millwall
Collins John 23 Striker released by Fulham?
Leroy Lita 24 Striker released by Reading - sort his attitude and we'd have a very strong looking attack
Kyel Reid 21 Left Midfield released by West Ham - could prove to be a smart signing
Matthew Richards 24 Left Back released by Ipswich
Tony Stokes 22 Centre Midfield released by West Ham
Matthew Bailey 20 Left Back released by Wolves
Jonathan Irving 20 Right Back released by Everton

If Billy wants some older heads with more experience then theres always:

Michael Ball 29 Left Back - injury prone but worth a pay as you play deal?
Michael Bridges 30 Striker - injury prone but worth a pay as you play deal?
Ivan Campo 35 Centre Back - getting on a bit, but experience could prove vital in major games
David Connolly 32 Striker - still a good goalscorer, and would be a good impact player
Ugo Ehiogu 36 Centre Back - his experience would help Wes et al improve
Daniel Harding 25 Left Back - decent player who wouldn't let us down
Carl Hoefkens 30 Centre Back - for me would be a very good addition to our young defence
Glen Little 33 Right Midfield - can provide quality and has bags of experience
Michael Mifsud 28 Striker - always worth a goal
Mortiz Volz 26 Right Back - very solid defender and would be my choice of signings
Darius Vassell 29 Striker - you might laugh at his name being here but would be a good 6the striker
Jerome Thomas 26 Left Midfield - has the talent to be very effective
Graema Murty 34 Right Back - solid professional and captain material for the young squad

And if Billy wants some familiar faces why not go for....
Eugene Bopp, Chris Doig or Stern John

i dont want any of them, sorry

Kyel Reid has gone to Sheffield United, mostly because people in Yorkshire won't realise he can't spell his own name.

I'm starting to become a little scared of you.

Whenever I poke fun at Sheffield United you appear rather quick, it's like that "Bloody Mary" in the mirror thing. I'll behave now. :(

Ehiogu? I know my blades supporting mate rates him? Or have his legs gone now?

I'm about the mention Sheffield United so Gem should pop up any second now...

I went up there a few time this year with a mate and in the pub whenever his name was mantioned it was with despair. I think his legs have gone and he didn't get that many games last year but I think that was mostly down to injury but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Mortiz Volz would be a superb capture, doubt we could tempt him, although stranger things have happened.

Volz and maybe Ball could resolve our full back shortage. But i think Billy wants to spend some of Doughty's money anyway, :)

A fair few of those 'seniors' have since found clubs, I am just too lazy to look it up. BD has his plans, only he knows what he is up to and as it seems to work I am content to let him get on with it. :)

How about Jonathan Fortune from Charlton?

28 years old and on a free.

Would be a good signing if we were to have him as backup for Wes and Mills (if we get him)

Michael Bridges is good, but injury prone.

hes gone to lincoln, but he could have been 6th striker.

Anyway my Man City supporting mate really rates Ball, says he never gives up and plays well.

Jerome Thomas , on trial at Hull.

I would take Junior Agogo back as our sixth striker. :-*

His fellow ghana international Stephen Appiah is also on a free. Has injury problems in the past but was a class player , still only 28. Plays in midfield. If he can prove himself fit , would surely be worth the risk to take him on.

I dont think theres any chance Appiah would come to Forest. I've seen him play on a few occasions and he makes the game look simple, he'd get into a mid table prem team without any problmes

Thing is , his past injuries has put off all suitors from the premiership. He hasn't had a club in a year but still plays for ghana .

Volz is currently in pre-season with Huddersfield. We could easily tempt him and we should definitely have a word in his ear.

Is he? He was on the tele the other day and said Fulham had allowed him to train with them.
